Heres what I have... what do I [need]? : wedding Deedeedee 040Heres what I have... what do I [need]? : wedding Deedeedee 039I can basically start from scratch here and not even use the branches (because they are ordered but not paid for) but I have a very tiny budget so I'm opened to cheap ideas...

I think that is very lovely and very magical-foresty-looking. Maybe some green the color of the frame on the numbers, something like, raffia draped around selected branches? I really think it's lovely. I think a little color up top would make it  pop. Smile

I think it looks good! Maybe add some white flowers and green hanging amaranthus to the branches?

Love the vase and frame. I woudl remove the smaller scattered items. Less is more and it just screams home-made to me- not that it looks bad, just doesnt look as good as it could. I do like the idea of something draping from the branches like @natbug21:  suggested though

@HappilyEverAfter54:  I think this picture has been around here already, because I found it on another thread, but this is what I'm using as my inspiration (minus the candles). It doesn't have to be the dendrobium orchids in there either, any tall white flowers would work I think!

Ugh I can't add pics with my iPad for some reason! But I think what you described sounds beautiful!

ETA: ok I don't even wanna say this but I feel like I have to cause I've been following your wedding decor forever and feel like a part of it lol :) but I think the vase needs to be shorter :( just so the branches can spread out a little and everything isn't so straight up and down. I know you just went through all that trouble but I really thnk itwould look bettit waste vase was a little shorter..

you can always try these orchid flowers from ikea the price is great....

    http://www.ikea.com/us/en/catalog/products/70153650/

and FYI when your shopping with coupons at michaels check acmoore online they have 50% coupons more often than michaels and you can use them both in michaels and joanns fabrics etc to get your wedding decor much cheaper...good luck

oh and i do agree with the post suggesting shorter vases...slightly shorter and slightly wider so the branches will be more open and look more like your inspiration pic.

@HappilyEverAfter54:  You don't always have to have the same flowers for every table! You could use different white flowers and just have some tables with those orchids, some tables with other kinds (I really don't know flowers that well or else I'd name some others, but I've seen ones that would work in Michaels).

But I think the flowers you have would look quite nice.

You could get taller branches, or just place some stones of your choosing in the vase to a certain height and that would help prop the branches up a little and then you could probably spread the branches out like natbug21 suggested.

What else can I add to make them not look like a tree in a vase? they seem so boring right now =/

The scale is a little off, the candles are too small for the vase, and the vase is very bare, I really like the table numbers though.

@HappilyEverAfter54:  Ok try this! Put some more rocks in, like double the amount you have now, then find some thick green ribbon that matches the moss color and put one or two of those cute white flowers off center on the ribbon. Then where the ribbon is hiding the inside of the vase put some green floral foam and then you can arrange the branches so they are more spread out and then here will be more visual interest from the votives to the top of the branches... Anyways that's just mysuggestion :) lol

Maybe instead of buying whole bunches of flowers to put at the brim of the vase you could just attach individual flowers to teh branches? I think even the little white ones would look cute. You could always glue some green ribbon around the top lip of the vase if you want to bring in more green.

    Kind of like this

Also, have you considered maybe buying some floralytes wholesale and using those with the vases filled with water? (JoAnn's carries the Aqua Gem lights) Or Sav-On-Crafts does 10 packs

    http://www.save-on-crafts.com/floralytes4.html

    They're looking good though!

We had something similar at our wedding and had tea lights hanging from the branches...pack of four at the hobby lobby for three dollars each while they were on sale. They have the sale just about every other week! The pack includes the frosted glass and the flamless candles...we just bought wire to hang the candles..

Heres what I have... what do I [need]? : wedding 48

Not the best pic, but you get the idea!

We had three candles around the base as well...and we put them in mason jars. We also had three hydrangeas in beween each candle. We were able to get mason jars  for next to nothing at local auctions...

Heres what I have... what do I [need]? : wedding Screen Shot 2012 01 05 At 4.10.34 PM

Similar to this...but this was the other type of centerpiece we had...

I hope this was helpful...good luck..and if you do nothing else to it...it looks so beautifully rustic the way it is....I love love love the moss covered table numbers!

good start, nice concept but the vase is so tall, it looks a bit bare.  maybe more rocks in the vases and some individual white flowers glued to the branches.  something is missing at eye level around 1/4-1/3 way down from the top of the vase.  maybe a ribbon or something?

what about wrapping green ribbon around some of the branches for a pop of color.  I would also add more rocks to the vase.   I think you have a good start!

I was messing around with my vases and came up with this?

Heres what I have... what do I [need]? : wedding Polo Rose

still unsure. i dont know if this even matches our theme. im sick of wasting money on items i never use, if we decide on these we'll buy live long stem polo roses and fill them with water. it would be cheaper in the long run but it's not very midsummer night dream is it... do the frames even still match? the rest of the venue will be decorated with ivy and moss.

@HappilyEverAfter54:  Your first pic with the branches....just add white lights running up the branches.....you could even spray paint the branches white ....for contrast and then do the lights OR add a spray glitter to them and do lights

Honey, you need to stop doubting your vision and coming back for more feedback. The branches go better with your theme. You are getting answers here that have nothing to do with your theme.

There are different types of branch centerpieces- the wider spreading branches (like manzanita branches), and narrower more vertical ones like yours.

If you liked the look of the branches when you added some more stones to raise them up a bit more, then leave it like that. The most I would suggest is hot glueing some green silk leaves or your silk flowers to the branches.

the roses would be sooo much easier to set up though and cheaper than buying the rest of the things we need. My FI really wants to use the roses now so I think I may just stick with that.... I just lost the will to keep trying and this seems like the easiest solution.

Oh no! Don't get discouraged!! I really liked what you first had, I was just trying to give you some suggestions to make it pop :) I really think you should stick with the rocks and the wider branches and then attach those cute little white flowers! And I think the spread out rocks around the vase on the table look cute too!!! Don't worry everything is going to look great!! I've seen the other decor you've been working on as well and everything is going to pull together and look gorgeous!!

@natbug21:  I don't know if my FI is sick of me losing my mind or being sad but he definitely just wants us to do the roses now. Weve run out of money too so I think this is our best bet... do you think it's okay, add or remove anything?

@HappilyEverAfter54:  Yes it will still look great! I would just cut the rose a little shorter and then when you fill the vase with water you can put a floating candle on top!
