And I got them from Fiance. Reg bee going anon for obv reasons.
A bit of backstory- Fiance and I have known eachother for a long time, but only started sleeping together about 18 months ago. We both had other partners before, but not tons and we were open about it. We had both been tested regularly, and prior to our relationship.
I eat a lot of veggiesand fiber, and as such I use the restroom a LOT. Like 5-8 times a day. Once, it felt a little raw down there (on the backside,) but I just assumed it was from the cheap work TP. No big deal.
Fast forward 10 days ago. Similar thing- feeling raw, hurts when I use the restroom or when soap gets down there, etc. Except it doesn’t clear up in a few days..it gets worse. Then the glands in my leg are tender. Then those in my groin. Then it’s so sore that I can’t sleep and can barely walk.
I go to urgent care thinking its an infected abrasion. Her assessment? Herpes.
Looking back, I now realize these episodes started right around the time Fiance and I started sleeping together (protected.) I honestly NEVER thought this could be it, but I can’t really see it so she told me there were probably one blister each time and I didn’t notice it until it burst and became tender.
So I have herpes. And its 99% positive that Fiance gave it to me. Either way, we both have it. The dr insisted that I didn’t need to tell Fiance until the test came back, but I called him immediately. He was completely unphased. It’s been a tough few days (who would have thought that a lame-ass like me, whos never had a onenight stand, would end up with the herpes,) but I’m realizing that it’s not a big deal.
I’m writing this to simply inform other Bees that this shit happens- its not the end of the world, and as Fiance puts it, it’s not a big deal because neither of us will ever have to disclose to other partners (and, honestly, it seems like almost everyone has been exposed at this point anyway.) However, I’m glad I’ve found out…I think a lot of my other health issues (chronic exhaustion, swollen glands, muscle aches) are related and will hopefully be alleviated by taking meds daily to prevent outbreaks (i’ve been on antivirals for a few days and already feel better than I have in months.)
Anyway. Just thought i’d share my experience.
I hope all is well with everyone, but don’t be afraid!!
