There was a GREAT cookbook at Borders a few weeks ago called Silly Snacks. The stuff in it was adorable, healthy (mostly), and VERY kid friendly. I almost bought it, it was so adorable, but considering I don't think I'll have a kid for about 4 years....
could you do something special and comemerative- like have each kid make a "handprint" tee for their daddy or something?
we used to do that when I was little- i remember you use water washable puff paint, and each kid does their handprint and their name on a t shirt or apron or something. kids love being messy!
As far as finger foods check out this site for lots of ideas. http://familyfun.go.com/recipes/appetizers-snacks/finger-foods/1/
As far as occupying them how about setting up a ball pit (blow up pool and a bunch of small balls), some tunnels, or a race car track? There was a little girl's party featured at http://www.hostessblog.com/2010/08/real-parties-a-day-in-the-garden-1st-birthday-party/ that had some really cute ideas. Several other cute party themes and ideas on that site as well.
Do you have access to a large, safe area for them to be? Either a hall, playground, field, driveway, backyard? When my nephew turned 2 my sister had everyone come over and bring a ride-on toy...she also had stations with playdoh with the explicit instructions to mix colors at will! That really kept the kids happy :)

Hey Bees
My son turns 2 in September and we are doing a small birthday party with just family (there will be 6 little cousins there from 2 to 5).
Are there any suggestions to make the party fun - its hard with a two year old because they do their own thing - how can I entertain these kids? Also any fun finger food suggestions???
Thanks Bees,
I want this to be special, I am finishing off teachers college and wont get to spend as much time with my son as I would like in the next 8 months.
