I'm noticing more and more KY brides on the boards- introduce yourself & where you're from!! Lets get the Kentucky Board moving :)
Once my immigration stuff goes through, I'll be moving to Owensboro, Kentucky next year! We're having 2 weddings, 1 in Canada & one in Kentucky. My hometown wedding is planned, but the KY one will have to wait to be finalized until I'm there... I hate planning things without actually seeing the venue or talking face to face w/ vendors.
I just wanted to connect with other KY brides, or soon to be KY brides:)
So...I'm sort of a Kentucky bride. I live in Louisville (just moved in June) but our wedding is in Texas (where we're from). We're throwing a 2nd reception/meet & greet when we come back to the Ville for all our friends here. (:
I don't know anyone besides my FI who actually started in KY... lol are there no more "homegrown" KY residents? :P
Everytime I go to Louisville I have so much fun. There's a piano bar on fourth street that I always go to!! I LOVE IT. lol its so honky tonk and not like any other piano bar I've ever been to before... I'm the brunette in the back drinking a bucket all by herself lol
I'm another "kind-of" Kentucky bride! FI goes to UK, so after I graduated I moved up here to live with him. Wedding is in Atlanta, though!
I know there's more out there... I've seen you around the hive!

One more KY bride here....I've been in Louisville about 12 years now but I'm a Texas girl at heart. So another sortof KY girl!

@MrsDeetobee....Welcome to Louisville....I hope you like it here. It was a big change for me coming from TX but I've settled in nicely.
I went to grad school in Lexington at UK before moving back home to Montana. Finished in 2007!
I'm a Lexington bride. Maybe. Hopefully. I live in Lexington now, though, and so does boyfriend and his family.
I feel like everyone I meet is from here, RB (hi, nice to meet you btw 
) but don't worry, I'm sure you'll fit right in! I think there are some nice people here...
KMSull you were like the first ky bride I saw on here (err Bride to be) and I was just waiting until you found this post lol.
Is anyone actually getting married in KY? 2 of you so far? KM & Derby?

Ok so I'm not getting married in Kentucky but I'm from there born in Lexington (Fayette County). Have fam in Lexington, Danville, and Louisville. Love it there...actually trying to convince the FI to move there in a few years. We live in Milwaukee, Wisconsin.
This is pretty random, but I figured I'd throw this on the KY board. Our wedding is in Texas, but we aren't honeymooning until May. So, we wanted to have a little meet & greet thingy back in Louisville for all our friends that we won't be inviting and/or aren't coming to the wedding, but we have no idea what to do!
We don't really have much money to spend on this thing at all, but we'd like for it to just be a chillaxed evening with wine, pictures, and me in my dress. Any ideas gals?
@MsMonicka: My FI went to college in Danville before going to law school at UK :) Also, my aunt (by marriage) is in the Sowetto Gospel choir from South Africa & they always have concerts there. lol I know thats random... its like when I travel & people hear I"m from Canada they're like "Oh do you know Joe Smith from Canada?" Err Canada is a big place.. lol
@Mrs.Dee to bee: We're doing the same thing... because our wedding is in Canada we are hosting a second "Wedding" for his ridiculously huge extended family that couldn't make it to our out of country wedding. Just host a reception with drinks & appy's :) It doesn't have to be anything massive, just a celebration with people who couldn't make it!
@ Mrs. Dee- are you thinking about doing it at a restaurant or... what kind of venue?
HAHAHA. No clue. We seriously have ZERO ideas.
Do you live in Louisville now? You're so close to me! My fmaily lives in louisville. Well, extended family. first cousins once removed and their kids and great aunt. I was born there. Well... do you want to wear your wedding dress or did you want a more casual affair?
Mmm. Casual, but it has been requested that I wear the dress. (:
Um... I say rent out 4th Street Piano bar & party all night long!! lol I just have fond memories of that bar, but its just so much fun :)
Also I play the piano & I am in awe of the pianists!!
@msmonicka: that's so funny--I'm from Milwaukee, but I've lived in Lousiville since elementary school.
My wedding will be in the Ville, but we're traveling up north to Neosho, WI for a second reception with all my family there, each of whom I love dearly, but none of whom can travel easily. It'll be my Philadelphia-born FI's first trip to the northern midwest and I can't wait.
Has anybody here heard of beha catering? My FI and I are testing out some food this Friday and we like their menu...and prices...
and @Mrs. Dee to Bee, the UofL Shelby Campus has a newly opened reception area. If the east end works for you, you should check it out. I've heard good things.

I'm getting married in Louisville, FI and I moved out here 7 years ago from California,we would love to get married back home but we decided to just go ahead and have the wedding out here,it just makes more sense.
I haven't been by the Kentucky board in a while. I was married in May in Springfield, KY, but I live in Cincy. I used SouthVan catering and Clay Jackson (found on WB!) for photography. Let me know if you want any info.
Hey all! Kentucky bride here born and raised! I am getting married in Louisville :) For those of you getting married in Louisville what places have you looked at? What do you like or not like about those places?
I'm living in Lexington with my FI, going to grad school at uk (1 more year and I'm a doctor!!), FI is a CPA in Lex. We're getting married in Raleigh, NC though because FI's grandpa is on dialysis and can't travel. 2 weeks to go!

Hi Kentucky brides! I was raised in Lexington and we're getting married near the Red River Gorge on my grandfather's farm. Our guests are staying in Lexington - we're bussing them to the farm and back for the wedding and reception.
So glad to see so many KY brides on here!
Where are you all having your weddings? Have you planned anything for entertainment for OOT guests?
I'm a KY bride-to-be! I actually live in KY and am having my wedding here. Western KY to be exact :)
Homegrown KY girl here. I'm from Danville, but live in eastern Ky now. Ceremony and reception will be in Danville at Centre College.

Newly engaged Kentucky bride here! We are living in Canada now, but are having a hometown wedding in Lexington. I can't wait to show my Canadian friends and future in-laws some Southern charm :)
I'm a good ol' homegrown Kentucky girl here! However, now I live in New Jersey! But that's just cause my job doesn't really allow me to live in KY and my fiance has always lived in NJ so I moved up there with him. But, we're getting married in Louisville! I'm so excited cause all my family and friends still live in KY and I love to come back to KY any chance I get! Woohoo!
I'm a KY girl, born and raised! I'm getting married in Louisville this summer. I went to Centre College, in Danville, and now I'm in medical school out-of-state, but I'll be coming back home to say my vows! :)
@forestgirl: Oh, your wedding will be BEAUTIFUL! Are you getting married outside near Old Centre? I know a couple Centre grads who got married there this summer and it was stunning.
I'm getting married in Louisville, but currently living in Owensboro. It is very hard to plan a wedding when nothing is open on the weekends!!! Im on a tight budget, but want the vintage glam wedding....any suggestions on where to find a cute vintage car?

Hey! It's exciting to find out there are a few of you close by! I grew up in Louisville, moved to Lexington for college (UK), and am now back in Louisville.
Our wedding is going to take place in May/June 2012, but we haven't decided on an exact date yet. Planning a garden wedding. We are leaning towards Whitehall, but once all this nasty weather is over, we are going to start looking more seriously at venues.
@Mrs.tobe: FI is from Mt. Washington and I lived out there for a year with him before we moved into Louisville. Small world!
@Shiner: It is a small world! Wow, so close! I love being in Bardstown also because I feel very "central" to things... Louisville, Lexington, Elizabethtown, and all the others in between!
