Hello just wanted to introduce myself I am a new lesbian bride to be and looking for any advice on venues in legal states with a focus on CT and NY (not in NYC please). 16k is the budget with honeymoon...it's tough but with baby plans down the line you I am sure you all understand. Any LGBTQ-friendly venues you could recommend i am feeling limited :/

I'm not a lesbian but my college roommate got married last summer to her girlfriend (now wife), and she used this list a lot:

Welcome! Have you considered the finger lakes area in upstate New York? It's a beautiful area that might also make a great honeymoon location.

I have stayed here: http://www.watkinsglenharborhotel.com/ and I would highly recommend it. I know they do weddings too. There are also plenty of other towns and venues on the lakes. Let me know if you'd like more info.

Edited to add: I'm not gay, so I can't say for sure that they are LGBTQ friendly, but I'd be very surprised if they aren't. It just doesn't seem to me like the region's style to be prejudiced.

    another great resource is http://www.gayweddings.com

I hope you don't encounter much homophobia or negativity in your search and planning. My gf and I haven't come up against any!

    Best wishes... :)

We got married in Massachusetts, so I don't know a whole lot about Connecticut or New York venues.  One thing I will say is that we had no issues with vendors being homophobic.  The vast majority of them, particularly in states that have legal same-sex marriage, realize that same-sex weddings are just more potential business for them.
