Congrats and welcome! That's probably the cutest proposal story I've ever heard!
@MissAsB: My cake actually turned out a lil' lopsided, hehe. This is the Whisk Kid's rainbow cake picture. I used the same recipe though. Mine was just more...wacky. Tasted good, though! Thanks for the congrats!

Hello! I'm new to the hive, and although I posted to the weekly welcome thread, I thought I should expand my intro.
I'm a city girl. My fiance is a country boy.
He's the cousin of one of my best friends, actually. We always had a great time when we hung out among mutual friends, and I ALWAYS had a crush on him, but I never WENT there for fear that my bff would not approve. Silly, but friends come before potentially problematic hook-ups, right? Well, after drunkenly admitting my feelings for her cousin, I blame the tequila haha, she told me that I needed to get off my butt and ask him out. Wow. Ok. With friend's approval, I asked country cousin out. He was, at the time, in culinary school, so our dates mostly consisted of him testing recipes for me. I gained 10 lbs because of him, and for once, I didn't care. I continued doing what I do; lawyer by day, renegade foodie by night. Our first trip together was a road trip through the southern states to eat BBQ. Our second trip was to Paris to...uh...eat more. We dated for 4 years, and I knew within our first month together that this was the man I wanted to spend the rest of my life with.
This past New Years Eve, we decided to have a romantic night at home. He cooked me a fabulous dinner, I made THIS CAKE hehehe
And then, something magical happened. We finished our meal, and he told me he had a dessert left. Dessert? He's a cook. He sucks at dessert (his words, not mine). We just ate a rainbow cake. What's going on? Well, he goes into the kitchen and brings out a box of cookies. They're sugar cookies in the shape of and decorated to look like hearts, him, me, pigs (BBQ haha), and finally, at the bottom of the box, a sugar cookie ring. I just stared at it and my mind kinda went blank and suddenly, he got down on one knee. All I know is that I apparently kept saying "I think this ring is too big" hahaha, and NOT fully comprehending that he had a beautiful ring in a little box in his palm. He asked me to marry him, and I managed a "YES", and then I cried. I happily cried and cried and ate a bite outta the ring cookie and mumbled "this ring is delicious," which cured my crying. We celebrated with champagne and fireworks. Now its time to plan my wedding!
