So I have to say, I'm broke as a joke.
A material girl living in this material world with NO MATERIAL!!
However, I'm beginning to think that a pair of Louboutin shoes should just be mandatory for a bride. Now before you spaz, let me clarify. I'm not saying you're any better or any less if you do or you don't. I just feel as though such high end fashion just screams DIVALICIOUS BRIDE! And if you don't have a pair for your wedding at least just have a pair in general.
You think it's just a fad, ladies? Because I'm very much ready to miss a meal or two in order to slip into a pair of platform Lady Peeps via Mr. Louboutin himself!

@Joctradamus: I just feel as though such high end fashion just screams DIVALICIOUS BRIDE! And if you don't have a pair for your wedding at least just have a pair in general.
Personally I think its rude for you to say something like that in the bold. Have you ever thought that not every one can afford them? If it came down to a pair of shoes and paying for school. School comes first. I'm not wearing Louboutins for my wedding and I'm not sure if I'll ever own a pair. I'm wearing a pair of unlisteds I got for between 50-70 bucks instead of a $500 pair of shoes
I'm on the fence about this. I bought a pair, several actually, and I hated every pair I bought. They were either uncomfortable or they looked weird on my feet.
I do love them though, but they are not for me (or my wedding).
@KendallR10: Hi Kendall! Thank you for the response! Also, I appreciate you telling me I'm rude even after I clarified the reasoning behind my post.
Personally, I think you're extra emo to take this posting in such a way as an insult. I can't afford Louboutin shoes myself - but I would most def attempt to save up for a pair because that's just my liking. I don't know if you caught that, I digress.
Anyway, really the point of the post is, despite your taking my personal opinion out of context, are the red bottom shoes a fad? I've seen them pop up around weddings often and should such a bold fashion statement continue on? Do you think it will die out?
I hope this clarifies some points for you :)
The only thing that stands out about them is the red bottoms...and what...that gets marked up all over the floor, grass, mud or whatever else you may trek through...oh and all for $300-500+, NO THANKS! I could use that money to go towards something SUPER awesome that people might enjoy with us or notice more than my shoes! or wait, I could put it towards a SICK honeymoon! Just my opinion, I have more fun bargain shopping anyways!
So YES i think its more so a fad, the next BIG designer will be out soon and everyone will be wanting/wearing those! Or maybe Moon Boots will be cool! =)
We all have different LOVES/PASSIONS and SHOES might just be yours ;)
@mittens111211: Are they really mittens? Thank you for telling me this - I've actually been on the fence as well about it. Not so much of the price (which would kill me alone) but I just the build of the shoes makes me wonder - is it even worth it? Thx Mittens!
@CupCakeMeg: Hey CupCakeMeg! Totally, I do agree. You're not the first person to tell me that. It's just something about red bottoms to me. I don't knoooowwwwwwww!! Torn! And now that mittens has told me of the discomfort - double whammy!
@Joctradamus: Im ll <---- (this close) to painting the bottoms of my shoesies RED just for the LOOK! hehe! I dont blame ya girl!
@CupCakeMeg: I'm not even going to lie to you, there's not a moment when I haven't thought about that! lol
@Joctradamus: I'm not emo but I do think its rude to say "You SHOULD HAVE to own a pair."
I think the red bottoms are ugly and can die. Shoes are not worth missing meals for. I'm a firm believer of living within your means. And if you're broke as a joke, its not needed. Lol
@KendallR10: Hi Kendall, that's totally fine. Not everyone loves the Louboutin - personal preference. And again, I thank you for taking my post out of context - as you've totally disregarded this line:
"I'm not saying you're any better or any less if you do or you don't."
Also, maybe you just take my assertiveness as being rude. It happens. No worries. Not everyone is ready for such swag.
@Joctradamus: In my opinion they were uncomfortable, but what 4'' heels aren't? right? I bought a pair of Joan&David's instead, I love them!
A couple things about Loub's:
First, You have to be able to try them on in a store because all of the styles are totally different as far as sizing goes. I wore an 8.5 (Decollette) in one style and then a 9.5 (Rolando, this is the pinch toed style, the toe box is tiny, it pushes your foot backwards, hence the bigger size) in another.
Second, the shoes sale fast! if your indecisive and can't make up your mind about a style, you might miss out. This happend to me a couple times.
Good Luck!
@KendallR10: I actually agree with you and could NEVER justify spending that much on one pair of shoes and even more so because i dont like the red bottom...
BTW I dont think i have spent 100 dollars on a pair of shoes EVER... and i love finding a GREAT deal!!! So id rather spend the money on a whole bunch of things then on one pair of shoes...
@Joctradamus: Now saying I'm not ready for such swag is a JOKE. Why would I want 300-500 dollar shoes when I could get 70 dollar ones that might be more comfy. Why should I pay almost 10 times as much for a pair or shoes when I could go on ebay and buy the red stickers for like 5 bucks
@mittens111211: OMG!!! Lordddd! I know there's a boutique here in NYC, I'm def going to take your advise and go try them on in store. I've been a little weary of ordering them offline. Thank you for the tips! They'r emucho appreciated :)
They are gorgeous!!!
There is nothing wrong with striving for the best for everything, whether it's for your wedding day, or just in general. Some people don't want to bend their budget for the venue, others for their shoes. Who are we really to judge?
Some knock-offs are okay for some, not for others. And why not have that extra special shoe for that extra special day? Personally, I have my heart set on shoes that are little pieces of artwork, but what can i say, I have the biggest shoe fetish, and so does my boo so I'm sure he wont mind me sparing any expense. ;-)
And if your going to share how much you love something, divalicious or not, what better place to do it then here!
As I've never tried them on myself, I'm not sure how they would feel, but I would expect them to be awesome! Go try them on!! Take some pictures!! I'm sure they will look just as A-mazing on!
@KendallR10:You shouldn't Kendall. Because you are just THAT COOL. you didn't know? Check you out!
@MsPanda: Hey MsPanda! Again, just an opinion of mine and a question after to follow. Which unfortunately was taken a certain way.
I look at Louboutin's as a must have because when the hell will I be able to say I own a pair of $800 shoes? On my wedding day, YA! After I dropped about $50,000 already, ya know??! But that's me. I could pay part of my rent with that money - HELL YEAH I CAN! And that's so much more important. But I just want a pair of Louboutin shoes because to me I just think they say something.
But after mittens advise they say PAINNNN!! lol
@Joctradamus: What are you 5? Seriously? You posted your thoughts and I posted mine. Seems to me like you are just drama.
@jenosaurus:Girl, I might have to paint the bottoms of my shoes like @cupcake said. WHAT! Watch me go!
Before a couple months ago I'd never owned a pair of shoes that cost over $100, but I felt like I should have a pair of special shoes for my special day and so bought a beautiful pair of Badgley Mischka Humbie IIs. They were $150 ($50 off on a special endless.com was running!), which is a lot for me, but I know its nothing in designer shoe world. I haven't really heard of many brides wearing Louboutins - have you considered any other designer shoes - maybe a brand thats a little less pricey? Anthropologie has some absolutely beautiful ones in their BHLD collection right now, and I've become a big fan of my Badgley Mischkas too...
@KendallR10: Kendall, it looks like the only drama on this board is from you. You seem to be getting a little defensive. Maybe it would make you feel better if I agreed with you that I'm a rude person? Or that you're right to come at me a certain way? Let me know what makes you happy? The last thing I want (or to be honest care about) is an internet battle with a chick I don't even know.
@Joctradamus:Im sorry if you took what i said wrong I was also just giving my 2 cents just like you did...
I have never once in my life even so much as "oooo'ed" over a pair of Louboutins. They do absolutely nothing for me and I would never, ever spend that much money on a pair of shoes. My Steve Madden heels work just fine, thankyouverymuch. :)
It was rude. You say you can't afford a pair of shoes but you're dropping 50k on a wedding. Something isn't adding up here
@UpstateCait: Cait, I hear you! I loves my Steve Madden platforms!
@MsPanda: Hey MsPanda! No no no! I def didn't mean my post like that. Total confusion. I wasn't attacking you and respect your two cents 100%
@KendallR10: We're on Steve Madden and you're still crying. Can we wrap it up here? LOL
I have a pair, and I have to say that Mittens is right. They are about as comfortable as 4.5 inch heels can be. Meaning... no 4.5 inch heel is going to be comfortable. :-) But I wanted them forever. So I saved up and got them. She's also right in that every pair is a different size... so stalk the ones you love and pray they have them in a store to try on. :-)
Why the hate on Loubs? People don't hate on people buying thousand-dollar chanel pearls...or Porsches... or whatever your favorite luxury item may be. Just because someone else LOVES something expensive doesn't mean they are judging you for not getting it. And not everyone has to love them--as long as the wearer does, that's what matters!
I think the OP was just saying a wedding is the perfect time to get some nice shoes. I didn't get mine for the wedding, but I got them eventually. So let's dream. :-) As far as them being trendy... who knows. The red sole has been around since the 80s and I think people are just noticing them more, perhaps? I got a classic shape for my pair, so hopefully they will be in style for a long time. They are flattering shoes--even if not the most comfortable. They make your feet look really sexy. It's not like they are crocs you know? Even if some other shoe becomes more popular, they will still be beautiful on your feet.
SMH
Can someone give this girl some props? SOMETHING?!? She's fishing for support and it's killing me!
@KendallR10: I'm sure she was just throwing out numbers, not everyone here is ready to share their budget with all the other Bees :-)
Anyway... My My, This thread is too funny.
But I do love how the OP made opinionated comments, not directed at anyone, and even said she's not judging anyone on their taste, and a bee has to come in and take it personally. lol.
I know, I know, shoes are of the up most important.
But when you actually buy a couple hundred dollar pair of shoes, you do get what you pay for. That's important to some. Don't get me wrong, I love me some Steve Maddens too(and Guess, and BCBG, my fav black heels). But I have to appreciate OP's love of shoes! I'm close by, we should go shoe shopping sometime! hehe
Lol, I love this post, and Joctradamus, you are my new favorite. In all seriousness, I love your swagger, dude.
Personally, I love me a pair of CL's. I might be a nutcase to spend that much on a pair of shoes when a cheaper brand might be comfier, but shit if I care. Nothing has that same shape and sexiness of the CL. Frequently copied, but never quite achieved by many other brands (although Badgley Miskhka, Pour le Victoire and others have been making some sweet ass shoes lately).Let's not forget the miraculous Brian Atwood and Nicholas Kirkwood.
Anyway, go on with your bad self loving you some sexy, expensive shoes. You could save for a couple months and definitely foot the bill, and you'll always look down at those things and love them.
If you can afford them, why not.
@Miss Damask: I'm so glad you understand where I'm coming from, as well as the other posters. Thank you. Just stating my love and asking for the POSITIVE opinions of others even if they consist of those who aren't into the red bottoms.
Lets keep the peace ya'll! We're brides to be!
I have multiple pairs of Louboutin's and I love 'em! They really are great shoes and I say go for it for your big day!
@Joctradamus: Holler, girl! If you want it, get it!
@LuckyJuls: Hey hey Miss Lucky! Thank you, girl! To be honest - I can't afford those Louboutins, but I'm totally willing to try and save up for them - with my broek ass. lolol And I LOVE Brian Atwood. LOVE LOVE LOVE!!
@doctorbee28: Thanks!! I'm going to def hit up the Louboutin Boutique on Horatio. Wobble around the store a little bit until I make a decision. Wobble wobble wobble!
