Since we don't live nearby we need some suggestions! The wedding will be in Troy so...

Our bakery is in Queensbury so you probably won’t want to go with them but they are faaaaantastic! I’ll PM you with the name if you’re interested (she’s a friend of my aunts and I’m worried she may have google alerts. Don’t want the fam finding WB, lol) but I totally understand if you’re not. She’s delivering our cake about 6 miles and its costing us $75. I imagine delivery to Troy would be like $300+!

Villa Italia in Schenectady has amazing pastries so I would expect their cakes to be just as good.

Gio Culinary Studio in Voorheesville is really great as well. They were at a wedding show I went to last year and their cake was delicious. If I remember correctly, the owner was on one of those Food Network cake competitions earlier this year (or maybe last year). I’d definitely check them out.

Villa Italia! Going for our cake tasting tomorrow!!! I'll let you know how it goes, but I'm about 110% certain that it is going to be delicious if it's like everything else I have ever eaten from there.

@UpstateCait: Yikes those delivery fees are really high, I guess PM me the name anyways though, it doesn't hurt to look into it, right?? :)

@gina0485: I've had Villa Italia cakes before and I think we'll go there, I was just a bit put off that the tasting is so expensive! $30 to taste some cake?? Ugh!

I got mine at Dolce & Biscotti in Clifton Park. Our wedding isn't until next year so we haven't had the actual cake, but the sample cupcakes were AMAZING. My mom went into the tasting hating our top choice of red velvet, but it was so good it won her over.

They also had reasonable prices (start at $3.25/slice) and when I showed them a pic of dream cake below, she said she could recreate it no problem. Ours will be just 3 tiers though.

Schuyler Bakery in Watervliet did my first wedding cake, and it was beautiful!! This time around I think I'm doing cupcakes from Bettie's Cupcakery in Saratoga :)
