I'll be sending mine as soon as I get motivated to finish addressing all of them! (about 7 months in advance for our June wedding).
I'm 08/07/10 and I was planning on already having them out, but FMIL and my mom said it would be best to wait at the 8 month mark. I already have them just need to send them out.
We sent them at the nine month point... it was too early, considering there are some people we sent them to that we probably could have cut off our guest list in hindsight. ;) Not anymore!
8 months out... We're having the wedding where we live, and 90% of our guests will have to fly to get here, so we wanted to leave plenty of time for everyone who wanted to come to plan their trips!
I'm planning to send mine out at the six month mark before August 2010. Reason being is that I'm hoping (but not holding my breath) that some guests who know they absolutely cannot attend will let me know at that point, and I can adjust my invite list accordingly.
Also, I am not registered for gifts, do not want a bridal shower or bachelorette party of any sort. I'm thinking that the STD will inform folks of the actual wedding date, although I've done my best to inform folks by word of mouth.
We've sent ours already. Way early, I know, but a quarter of our guest list is not only out of town but out of country, and the difference in airfares buying a year in advance compared to six months in advance can be around £500 / $800....
We planned to send them at the 6 month mark, but now it's 5 months out, and we still need a few more guests' addresses! At least they'll get the Save the Date before the holidays, and the invitation after. : )
No later than February 2010, so that our OOT guests have sufficient notice, so that they can plan to save for the expensive holiday travel since our event is during Thanksgiving week-end.
We sent ours 8 months before. It was a destination wedding and everyone had to travel, so we wanted to make sure everyone had enough time to make plans if they wanted to come.
We wanted to have ours out already, but now it looks like they will be in the mail next week sometime, so that will be just under the 8 month mark.
We sent ours out around 7 months in advance.
Sent mine a few days before the 8 mo. mark...only becuase I lost all addresses. My family is all out of state.
We are sending ours out in January. We have a lot of guests booked for the cruise already, but we are sending them out just to make sure everyone is aware they are invited and are able to book if they wish. Plus we are having an AHR a few months after we come home so we want to let people know that as well, even though it will be over a year after!
I'm thinking we're going to go with the six month mark. We only have a few OOT guests that already know our date, and we're doing our engagement session about that time; our photographer is going to take the picture that will go on our STDs!
I'm also doing them at the six month mark. Our wedding is the beginning of August so I'll send them out the beginning of February.
We just sent ours out a few weeks ago, so the six month mark. I was originally planning for the seven month mark, but we got a little behind waiting for engagement pics. If you are planning a wedding for around the holidays I would send it out 8 or 9 months early, so maybe February or March?
We are planning on getting our epix done right after the holiday maddness (so need to jump back on that fitness/diet bandwagon) so we can get them out by mid feb. Our wedding is thanksgiving weekend so i'm hoping to get them out as soon as possible.
I'm with @wonderlanded....we did just shy of a year. We also are having a destination/cruise wedding and know a lot of people need time to plan and save. I think thats true for any wedding that has a lot of guests - or even the important ones - that need to travel. If your wedding doesnt fit that criteria, then I agree with the 8mo-ish figure.
Our wedding is 11.21.10, we are sending out STD's out right around Valentine's day. Love is in the air.
I think 6 to 8 months is about average. Because you are so close to a holiday, I would say go for the earlier time.
We'll probably send Save the Dates around April.
My wedding is the day after yours.... Saturday the 27th. My goal is to get them out by st. patty's day.
