I thought that it might be helpful to start a support thread for those of us who have suffered from/are suffering from/have a friend or relative suffering from hyperemesis gravidarum.
As someone with this condition I have found it hard to talk about it with ‘normal’ pregnant women as it is very hard to explain that you are experiencing something different to bad morning sickness.
I hope this thread will be helpful to anyone needing emotional support.

I suffered from HG with both of my pregnancies, as did some of my family members. One place I’ve found a lot of support and information on treatments, doctors, etc… is the Help Her Foundation website. They also have a forum for women who have HG and their support groups (partners, family, friends, etc…). It’s been an incredibly supportive environment for me, and I’d encourage anyone suffering from HG to check it out:

I don’t have HG, but after a stomach bug a few weeks ago that caused uncontrollable vomiting for over 24 hrs, I certainly feel for the ladies that do have it. You are in my thoughts!

I second helpher.org. I joined this after I was diagnosed and just read all sorts of things from people. I didn’t post much, but it was so nice to read everything.
Also – if you are suffering or have suffered, look into joining this research group:
There is so little known about HG, so if you are able to help then why not?

@tnbellebee: thank you.
@snoie: the website looks so helpful, I’ve started reading it. I would volunteer but am unfortunately not in the US.
