AmberEyes:  I just started taking Vitex this cycle to help me regulate my cycles. More especially, I want to shorten my cycles. This cycle, I think I might have ovulated three days earlier than last cycle, so far so good. Who knows, Vitex may just be the thing to help you get pregnant, FX.

I started taking Vitex in April. It hasn’t shortened my cycle at all and my O dates are irregular, but my cycle itself has been pretty much the same length since I started taking it (39-40 days, with a 13-14 day LP). We’re NTNP and BD has been sporadic because my DH was out of town for work over the last few months, but I’m hoping we’ll conceive sooner-than-later (with or without the help of Vitex, lol)!

I took it, but it gave me mid-cycle bleeding so I stopped. I was very hopeful, alas it wasn’t for me.

What infertility issue(s) are you trying to fix? Vitex is often used to help regulate an irregular cycle and improve egg quality. If you have an irregular cycle or are a “older” TTC woman, it may help. But if you don’t have those issues, it may not be the right fit for you.

AmberEyes:  just inconvient and it makes it very hard to tell really where you are in your cycle. Nothing painful about it. I would just start bleeding on CD 10 again. It was like having 2 periods in a month. Hard to BD when that’s going on…

I took it for 3 months. It shorten my cycles from 68 to 31 and I also conceived this cycle. I’m not sure if the vitex helped me conceive but it helped my cycle

AmberEyes:  You don’t sound confident in your RE. Hopefully your 2nd opinion will give you more confidence in both the diagnosis and the plan to move forward. Maybe wait until the 2nd opinion to add/change anything, just so that you can compare apples to apples? i know that is frustrating because all you want to do is move forward and fix it, but if your 2nd opinion is working with a different set of circumstances because you altered things in between, it would be hard to compare both opinions and know which way you want to go. Just a thought.

I get the desire to avoid painful medical intervention in favor of milder natural remedies but… Vitex is not going to fix endometriosis, polyps, or malfunctioning ovaries. It provides overall support to your hormones, which control ovulation. I took it in conjunction with diet and exercise for mild PCOS, and it did help me shorten my cycles and regularly ovulate. When I started Metformin, it helped even more.

Definitely get a second and third opinion, but don’t rely on just the Vitex. Go science!
