I'm already married...but Hi! :-)
I was married in Kirkland and reception in Bothell
Hi Jmkassak, welcome to the Hive! I'm getting married 10/9/10 in Seattle...colors will be black, white and green.
Have a great day!
I'm a psudo-Seattle bride- My family and I are all from Seattle, but I go to school in PA, and the FI's family is in PA too... so the wedding will be out here... with a second wedding celebration in Seattle! I'd planned on a Seattle wedding and was rather excited about it... but this just works better. We're still looking for a celebration location for late May/early June this year... Right now we're looking at the DAR Rainier Chapter house, the Skansonia, Aqua Club, Environmental Services Building (closer to Tacoma) and Pioneer Pavillion (in Puyallup) :)
Hi! Welcome to the seattle board!
@CinnamonStick: my friend had her reception at the Pioneer Pavillion- it's such a gorgeous building! She put up twinkle lights everywhere and it looked so gorgeous.
I didn't get married in Seattle, but I can say that the Seattle bees are the kindest, nicest people out there! DAR Rainier Chapter house is beautiful, and I'm not so hip to Skansonia-- but I suppose it's because my work hosts a party there every year.
YAY another Seattle bride to bee - Hi JMKASSAK
We're marrying on Halloween - we're having a Masquerade themed ball at Sodo Park in Georgetown
Hello jm, and welcome
We are getting married on March 31, 2011 at Thornewood Castle.
*Waves* Hi JMKassak! Welcome to the Seattle Boards.
I'm marrying Mary 23, 2010 at the Seattle Harbor Club, don't really have a theme but my girls keep calling it vintage couture (modern meets vintage), We are having a blast doing it :)
Hey there! We're getting married on New Year's Eve (2010) at the Lake Washington Rowing Club on the canal in Fremont.
CinnamonStick: the DAR house is absolutely beautiful. If you're having a wedding of less than 75 people, it's a super great deal because the rental isn't too much and it includes all the linens, china, glassware, etc. If you're above 100, you rent the whole house which costs more than they advertise in their website. They also require you hire about 3 of their staff for just general set-up...with their labor plus gratuity plus needing to pay labor on your catering staff, it can add up. We probably still would have gone with them if we weren't getting married on New Year's Eve...they charged extra for the rental cost for the venue plus the staff gets paid holiday rates. It made it completely unaffordable. Oh, also, if you're above 75 and need to use the upstairs banquet hall, I'll warn you that they don't have an elevator (and it's a long set of stairs).
Thanks for all of the tips- especially about the DAR house! I'll be sure to keep all of that in mind, particularly when asking questions!
Welcome JMKassak!
@Jackie-O- love love love Sodo Park!
@TPHoliday- meet with our DOC yesterday... she's YOUR DOC too! :-)
@PretzelOh that's awesome! How did you figure that out??
Bobbi is just the greatest :)
@Jackie Oh I adore Sodo park! They were a finalist in our venue choices, but knowing the Chef at the SHC so I could totally customize the menu, put it over the top :) That and I knew the Catering Manager :)
Love to see so many Seattle brides! I'm living in Portland now, but the wedding will be in Seattle (probably next Feb?). Love love love Sodo Park but not sure I can make it work... Kiana Lodge is out near where I grew up though - love seeing someone who's getting married on the Kitsap side (we aren't sure yet which side of the water, though I'm leaning toward Seattle... I love so many of the venues in the city!)
Hi Seattle bees! I'm also new to the boards and planning an Aug 2010 wedding at Sodo Park.
Oh, I have such jealousy for those of you who are getting married at Sodo Park... we really wanted to have our wedding there but we had the WORST time getting the event coordinator to give us an estimate. In the end, it's ok, since I am madly in love with the W hotel and the event staff has been amazing there.
Nice to see some new Seattle Bees!
We are getting married September 5, 2010 at Lake Union Cafe.
@TPHoliday- She told me :) I told her I found her through weddingbee and she dropped your name- I was like- I know who that is!
Yay Seattle Bees!
@pretzel @TPHoliday My DOC said the same thing about WeddingBee, though at the time I couldn't quite place the names she mentioned from WB, are you talking about Sydney? If so, she's amazing!
Hi to all the newly-introduced Seattle bees! I can't believe we have even more than were at the meetup at Oliver's, what a fun and active group.
@Pretzel Oh how funny! She just asked me recently if she could do a blog about me, it must be why my name was in head; small world :)
@Littlestbird Her name is Bobbi Roth and just a sweet human being! Where is Sydney from?
@TPHoliday That's cool!
@Littlestbird We talked with Sydney too- it was a tough decision- they both are awesome.
@JMKassak- sorry for hijacking your thread :-(
@TPHoliday @Pretzel Sydney Fee is with Your Day Your Way Event Planning, and I wish I could recall which bee recommended her! She said she's gotten a lot of business from bee recommendations, and I can see why. She has her shit together so thoroughly that I couldn't feel more comfortable about our wedding day being in her hands. She said stuff like "If your getaway car is supposed to show up at 11pm, then at 10:45pm I'm on the phone asking where they are." Oh, that and if the bride and groom want their first look to be done with no audience, she's not afraid to ask guests to back off - even the moms! I'm also kind of in love with her for giving me an amazing deal; when I told her we only budgeted $500 for a DOC she offered to knock $200 off their $700 package and give us the whole deal. Who is Bobbi Roth with?
@Littlestbirds Bobbi is her own company http://www.bobbirothweddingdesign.com/main.html
That's great about Sydney! I've never heard of her but she sounds just fabulous!
Sorry jmkassak!
Hey ya'll! I'm a Seattle girl, but getting married in Oregon...however, Sodo Park is gorgeous, so is the Engine Room, the DAR room and I actually went to a really lovely wedding at the Tyee Yacht Club which I think is pretty affordable? I love the Lake Union Cafe as a wedding venue too, so art deco!
Hello Seattle brides! I'm new here, and getting married on August 22nd in Winthrop, WA (in the Methow Valley). We're doing a three-day hangout at a ranch, with lots of DIY stuff. I'm excited. Really fun to hear about where you ladies are having your weddings also. Cheers!
Wow, I'm late to the party here! Welcome and "hi" to all the Seattle brides!
Welcome to you too Miss Sapphire! Huckleberry, your wedding sounds like a lot of fun! For those who I haven't told yet, ours is at Delille Cellars in Woodinville.
Funny story: yesterday my bridesmaid and I were at La Belle Elaine's to finally order the bridesmaid dresses, and our room attendant told me that her twin sister had her wedding at Delille last summer! Not only that, but she told me that the round glass tops for the wine barrel "cocktail tables" that I'm in love with were apparently made by her dad for that wedding! Apparently they bargained down the venue rental price by allowing Delille to keep the glass tops. I was really glad to hear she thought the wedding at Delille was beautiful. Small city, apparently.
Hello everyone.
I'm actually a Philadelphia girl but currently living in Seattle. I moved here from Philly about a year and a half ago.
My wedding was also in the suburbs of Philadelphia on Nov 28 2009.
Good luck to all the bees who have upcoming weddings!
I'm getting married at Magnolia Hall in Arlington on a Friday night. :) I've booked catering, venue and my photographer (a school friend from Kitsap that I randomly ended up working with in Seattle 6 years after graduation). Still trying to decide what to do about ... well everything else! I'm a budget and full on DIY bride, doing the entire bit for under $6k with about 80-100 guests.
@codydidwhat - KITSAP! I'm from Port Orchard, although I haven't lived there in years. Grew up on the peninsula but moved to Seattle right after high school - Now I'm in Marysville so we are having our wedding in Snohomish County. ProudPeacockBride (who hasn't appeared here ont his thread, yet...) is getting married at Manchester State Park in the old artillery building this summer. So far she is the only true Kitsap bride I've seen around.
I've mentioned before that when I first came to WB the Seattle board didn't seem to be active much so I missed out on the Oliver's meet-up but can't wait to come to the next one if schedules make it possible!
Hi JMKassak (and all other Seattle Bees)!
I'm not exactly a Seattle Bride...currently living in Seattle but my wedding is in the Columbia River Gorge near Portland. We wanted to get married up here since there are so many places we would love to have it...but too many family and friends in Oregon to ask to travel!
How's everyones planning going??
Hello PDX bride! Sounds like your wedding will be beautiful, I love the Gorge! I'm the week after you, and also dealing with the challenges of planning a pseudo-destination wedding (in the Methow Valley, about 3-4 hrs from Seattle). I've been feeling a little stressed as we are on the planning fast-track (having just got engaged in December), but it has been a VERY productive week so I'm feeling better. The venue is completely nailed down, we found a fantastic, reasonable caterer (yay!), save the dates are being designed now to go out by end of the month, and I hope to have dress and photographer decisions done by the end of the week.
Next on the list: bridesmaids dresses, groom/smen attire, and also recruiting a mighty DIY army. Well, lots more on the list but those are the next tasks.
@Christalyn, your wedding sounds great! Arlington is such a pretty town. I'm excited to hear more about your DIY ideas. @Littlestbirds, fun story about the cocktail barrels. Sounds so so elegant.
I'm already married, but I was a Seattle bride! We got married at the Sorrento Hotel on Capital Hill and it was beautiful!
Good luck to all you ladies planning! Seattle is such a wonderful city to be in!
@Huckleberry & @pretzel: I know right?? My BMs are all over the place so it's hard to get together for DIY tasks. So currently, I am my own DIY army! Current project is invitations...still trying to select paper for the pieces (pocketfold type invites).
@Huckleberry: Looks like you've gotten most of the big things out of the way so you'll be fine! Good to hear you had a productive week...I need one of those!! :-) Good luck!
@PDX We are trying to pull together a DIY party for Seattle brides- bring a project work on it, talk weddings, oh and ah over each others projects etc... there is currently a thread and poll- looking at a March weekend.
Hello jmkassak! Welcome! I'm getting married April 17 with a church ceremony in the U-district, reception at Salty's. Here's hoping you have a great journey to your wedding day-- and beyond!
@Pretzel, would you mind posting here the date of the March DIY event when its decided? If it is late in the afternoon or early evening I may make it back in time to come.
@Pretzel and PDXBride, we can assemble our own DIY army of brides to be, yeah! :-)
My friend just got married at Kiana Lodge last summer! It's gorgeous! She had a morning ceremony with a champagne brunch, it was a great sunny day! Let me know if you want pics...
I'm getting married June 24, 2011 on the Skansonia ferryboat on Lake Union. Yay Seattle brides!

Looks like I've been missing out on a lot of fun Seattle-bride chat! Just wanted to say hi to you all and join in the fun. When and where are you all getting married? I'm getting married at Kiana Lodge on July 10th. Looking forward to sharing ideas and hearing about everyone's weddings!
