We paid $130 for our liscence.. and thankfully our taxes and tips were included in the price of our venue so I don’t know off hand how much we are being gouged..

I think ours was $80.  I didn’t like paying for “travel fees” for the makeup and hair artists.  I think that should be included in the cost.  I also didn’t like having to pay the caterer to haul the trash and recycling.

I think our license was only $40.  My parents paid for the wedding so I don’t know what the taxes amounted to but it was 5% on the total cost of the venue, food, and alcohol.  Even worse is the 20% gratuity they tack on!

Thankfully we’ve remembered to budget for these two items, but that doesn’t erase the fact that we’re still paying $96 for the marriage license and $3300 in service charge + tax for our reception. Seriously, even the service charge is taxed. It’s crazy.

Our marriage license was $60 (it would have been $18 if I had still lived in IN but we had to pay more for being out of state).

My parent’s paid for most of our wedding so I don’t know how much of the costs went to tax.

Our license was $93.50 and we paid almost 5k for taxes/”service” charges at our venue. We budgeted for both but its still upsetting.

Our marriage license was $100. And taxes…well…let’s just say they weren’t pretty.

Marriage licenses range from $4-$50 in MA depending on the town.  I’m paying $25 for mine… and have yet to find out which one is $4!

$100 for the licence.   Taxes were a lot too, but I haven’t broken them down yet.   Gratuity too.

@OrchidLove: The cost of a license in GA is only $65, and if you have premarital counseling, it only costs $30.
