I have level 7 dark blonde/light brown hair color. I started noticing sprigs of gray around my face. So I requested a color that was pretty much my natural color with a little umph. Each time I was thrilled with the result – for about 2 weeks and my grays showed back up. I did everything I could do – quit shampooing so often, wore a hat when outside, ect but apparantly my hair is “poreous” (although will healthy?).
I go back Wednesday and I’m considering partial highlights to blend the gray in better. I’m not thrille about going lighter I know it will take.
I would appreciate any advice!

I went for highlights to blend my gray. I have dark brown hair, and my highlights are a mix of honey and warm brown shades. I trusted my colorist, and she nailed it. I’m dreading pregnancy because I won’t be coloring my hair. So sad. Haha

I did the same as lovekiss: at the suggestion of my hairdresser. The greys blend in with the highlights, and only if you look very closely can you see the grey hair. It’s also much easier to maintain the dying your whole head.
I believe my hair is around the same colour as yours – level 7, and the highlights look really nice. The highlights that I get are about a 5 (I think). They are not really blond, but a bit of a sun-kissed look. The last time that I went in, I had a new hairdresser, and she was looking at my file and mentioned that she couldn’t believe that I had highlights when I first came in because they were very subtle.

I have a TON of grey hair (and I’m only 28 🙁 ), but I have very dark hair so its easy for me to dye it at home, since any “mistakes” don’t realy show up. The nice part about the greys is they kind of create subtle highlights as they pick up a bit more of the colour!
Unfortunately, I need to dye it about every 3 weeks if I want to keep up (currently haven’t dyed it for a few months)- I don’t know what advice to give really…hair grows and it will grow out eventually. Your plan sounds like it’s worth a shot!

I did the same thing as lovekiss…
I have dark brown hair and had it colored to be a honey brown with peek-a-boo blondish streaks for highlighting. It really helped highlight my wedding curls.

lfranke: You are in the same boat as me. I wanted answers too. There are a few on the thread I started from other people. The last resort for me is highlights but I’m not sure I am going to like them. I’m not a stylish girl, pretty simple and I just think its not fo rme. Who knows maybe I will like em. But I also don’t want to go lighter.
