So I love the cake we picked out, and it’s definitely a tad more than I wanted to spend on a cake but it’s my FI’s splurge. So here we got this lovely fancy cake and I figured we’d skip the stand…until I realized that the cake has to be on one of those little tinfoil plates. I REALLY dislike how the cake looks on just that plate, I don’t think it does justice to how much the cake cost us. It seems I have two options to camoflage the tin plate.
A) Cover all around the base with flowers
Cost $15-$50 just for the base, I’m not able to get an exact quote yet from my florist. She said it’d cost $15 just for a clump at the front.
Pros: 1) Yay flowers!! Flowers are so romantic 2) Don’t have to worry about taking them home after
Cons: 1) Can’t re-sell after 2) the cake won’t be elevated (but does it need to be?) 3) My main flower is Gerbera Daisies…I don’t think I’d like how that looks I’d have to see if I can get my FMIL to agree to hydrangea 4) May hide the bottom ribbon layer
B) Get a silver plated cake stand
Pros: 1) It’s an easy solution 2) It can be sold after or handed down 3) The cake is elevated (but once again does this matter?)
Cons: 1) Another item we have to remember to take home 2) Does it match the rest of the wedding? I’m not sure. My wedding is kinda a combination of vintage and rustic
