Have you had an ultrasound before yet? Are you pregnant with twins or a singleton? My uterus was huge and high…but then again I was pregnant with twins.

Perhaps twins are a possibility? If you’re fairly certain you are close to 8 weeks, maybe that is the cause?

Or physically, you may just be different in terms of where everything is/ how fast it expands! Who knows!

Make sure you update us on what happens 🙂

Twins is a possibility!  My OB never said my uterus was high but I went in at what we though was 12 weeks and the ultrasound showed I was actually 16.  So you might be further along than you think or could be twins! The uterus gets larger earlier with multiples

sara79:  My uterus was huge and high, but it was a single baby 🙂 They ordered an US at 8 weeks as well because of that as well as my mom’s history of twins.

I has twins…I, nor my my mw noticed nothing unusual at 8 weeks but I can’t remember if she palpated my abdomen. I did however (I’m a nurse) and I couldn’t feel the top of my uterus until around 12 weeks and only with some deep probing… and it was quite high then about midway from my ph if bone to belly button…at 20 weeks above my belly Button! I guess there are a few possibilities…your further along than you gathered, you have multiples or your baby is starting out on the larger end (both mine did but they evened out and were born at just under 6 lb. So dont worry if baby is big) or maybe she’s mistaken. Like I said my mw noticed nothing and I later found out it was twins via uktasound.

Mine was high with a singleton, because I have a short waist. So it could be just one.

Or you could be the next person to have octuplets 😉

Seriously though, as someone else currently pregnant with PCOS, congratulations! Awesome news 🙂

sara79:  Was your bladder full at all? When I went for my 8 week appointment the midwife said my uterus was high, but I had a full bladder so that could definitely push it up. I had an ultrasound scheduled for after (hence the full bladder) and everything was normal. I went Wednesday at 12 weeks and everything is measuring fine. Though I’m going through a growth spurt right now!

sara79:  I’ve been measuring 5-6 weeks higher than normal because I’m carrying twins, but I think an ultrasound will be able to answer that more definitively.  Congrats on the pregnancy!
