i love it! i think its very unique! you can make it your own! :) go for it!
I love it!! I don't like the taste of fondant icing, so this type of cake would save me the trouble of peeling it off. :) Go for it!!
I really like it! I'm not a huge "icing" fan so I'd be perfect for me!
being someone who LOVES frosting, I wouldn't want it, but I think its unique.
It does have a very classic 50's, homemade feel... :) Just like mom would have made! I think it's a nice option for brides who aren't frosting/fondant lovers!
If you like it, then go for it! Personally, I really really REALLY like icing (not fondant) so I'd be missing out on my icing, but that's just me.
i hate too much icing or fondant on cake, i usually scrape it off...so this looks perfect! i love the look although i can see how some might not be into it.
As a person who wishes she could have a frosting only cake I would never want this! To me it looks like they forgot the frosting or were trying to save money
I don't think it's weird at all! Most of your guests won't even know what Hilary Duff's wedding cake looked like. I'm with the pro-icing crowd for my personal tastes, but that's a gorgeous cake!
I don't really like it either it looks....incomplete.
Then again, I do love me some icing. :D
Its not bad to copy a celebrity's wedding cake at all, besides I seriously doubt anyone at your wedding will even notice that this was a "celebrity inspired" cake. I found a picture of a cake online from a famous cake shop and had it replicated. It tured out perfectly, so go for it.
if you like it, do it!!!
personally? ick. no icing? then it's not a cake!!! LOL! now, keep in mind, I've got a sweet tooth and I AM a kid in a candy store. :D I drool over candy in the candy aisles of stores, too... and MUST have chocolate at LEAST once a day!
I'm picky about icing though: no foundant (ick), no whipped (ick), and CREAMED ALL THE WAY!!! lol. probably because I grew up eating icing from the tubes you can buy at the store, (my uncle started it when I was a toddler... and he died when I was 3 so :P)
Looks-wise I think it's pretty cool!! But i'm with Ryna about the frosting. This cake doesn't make me want to dive in face first like a cream frosted one...maybe that's a good thing.
@Rgeddy: agree I think that there will be a new fad. I think its cute and different. I have never seen it.
I love it! I am not big on icing though. It does have an informal feel, though, so as long as you feel comfortable with that I think its great. And as far as celebrity cakes, there might be a few people there who notice but I seriously doubt most of your guests would even know where your inspiration came from. Go for it!
i like that its unusual but i wouldnt have it in my wedding, it looks abit too unfinished for my liking

I really like Hilary Duff's wedding cake and wanted to see what everyone else thought of it. Does it look too informal? I think I found my wedding cake!!! Is it bad to copy a celebrity's wedding cake?
