My FI and I considering hiring a pianist for both the ceremony and reception. We were thinking of having the pianist play classical music during cocktail hour and dinner and then have more contemporary music during the rest of the evening.
We aren’t really into dancing, so we were thinking that this would be a unique type of entertainment that may fit us better. We’ve heard the pianist play at a venue before and really liked him (he sings too). We’re waiting to hear back on the cost as well though…
Has anyone hired a pianist for a reception before? How did that work? Did that person make announcements? Did s/he play for the first dance? Did other guests dance to the music later in the evening? When the person needed a break, what did you do for music?
