My fiance (will be husband by then)’s birthday is the second day we’re on our honeymoon. We have been on vacation during his birthday before and I never really do anything out of the ordinary special because I just am not that creative and it stresses me out to have to plan something while we’re on vacation. This birthday I want to be super special for obvious reasons: the first birthday for my HUSBAND, we’ll be on our honeymoon, and we’ll be in ITALY!
So I’m begging you all for help. I’m horrible at this and he knows it and thinks I will totally blow it again this year. I want to go overboard with it as much as I can. He is the most thoughtful man I have ever met and he deserves an extra special effort on my part (at least this one time, lol). I was thinking to have the hotel fill the room with balloons and set up a romantic table for dinner in our room when we get back from our day. What ideas do you ladies have for me? And thanks in advance!

I would have either dinner sent up to your room or have a bottle of champagne waiting for him (with a present on his side of the bed) and then go out to a really nice restaurant. The food and service in Italy is amazing so you’re bound to see somewhere on your first day that you really like.

Dinner somewhere special/romantic woudl be lovely.
If you really want to go all out, maybe conatct a few travel agents/ looks aroudn the web for hot air balloon rides or if he is a car guy you coudl rent out a super nice car for a few hours and drive aroundteh amalfi coast (not sure where in italy you are going though).
I think if you contact a few travel agents that are based/specialise in italy they will have lots of ideas/options for you 🙂

Is there one thing he’s looking most forward to on your honeymoon? A certain excursion/museum/site/etc.? I would maybe go there and take it to the next level. If it were my FI I would take him wine tasting or to a wine vineyard, since I know he’d love that and then have the hotel do all you’ve already thought of. Maybe you can have all his friends and family give you cards for him to open up over there too so he is celebrated by everyone?
My birthday is the 3rd day of our honeymoon and since I will already be on an amazing trip I’m not looking for anything except a way to make a birthday wish, I’ll just be happy to be in Maui with my new hubby- so don’t put too much pressure on yourself 😉

my birthday was on our honeymoon, and it was amazing! my hubby planned out what we were going to do every day, and saved everything i wanted (zip lining and a play) for my day, and got me a special dessert.

If he’s into cars the Farrari museum is in Italy…you could rent one and drive there :o)

If you email the hotel concierge before you arrive, they should be able to set somethign up for you.
There are some great cooking classes available in Italy. Have you explored any of those?

Oh wow, Im going to be in the same situation! We are honeymooning relatively locally though, and there’s not a ton to do where we will be, besides him playing golf. So I have pretty much decided it will be a small and simple celebration, with a small gift, mostly because I wont have any money by then!!!

My husband’s birthday was on our honeymoon, too! For that part of our honeymoon, we were in NYC, so I took him to his favorite restaurant for dinner. It wasn’t over-the-top or anything, but it was all I could think of!
If you’re in Italy, you won’t have a shortage of things to choose from, that’s for sure. I agree with the others who suggested talking with a travel agent to book a super fun and original excursion or something.

Where will you be in Italy on his birthday? If you are in Rome, I can recommend a really nice restaurant which is in a hotel that has a great art collection and an amazing view of the city at sunset. I actually had a 7 course meal there that lasted several hours but that may be a bit much. Here is link: http://www.romecavalieri.com/lapergola.php Aparently it is also the only restaurant in Rome with 3 Michelin stars. Their art collection is beyond amazing and I only saw what is visable in the lobby.
