I am Mel and I am getting married in Hawaii, on the beach, in May (just a few months away). My guy and I have been together for 8 years so ...it's not going to be a big wedding or fancy for that fact. It will be us and our children (we are a blended family- all the kids are teens or older). I am 40 and PLUS sized. I wear a street 26/28 and looking for something "flowy" and perfect for the beach. I want simple but pretty. I feel like I have looked at a bizzillion dresses and tend to start liking the more fancy ones and then have to bring myself back to reality..lol... I plan on having all the guys in shorts (the 2 boys in maybe some hawaiin shirts of sorts and my guy in a hawaiin dressy shirt) and my two girls in a pretty hawaiinish sundress. I dont want to spend a fortune on th dress since the trip itself is already costing alot.

I think my best bets so far are something such as these... your thoughts? (also I placed a classified on the board hoping to find a preowned dress)

I think any of those would work well for the beach. Very pretty. I will say that, as a fellow pear shaped woman, the flowy empire waist dresses looked horrible on me, like I was wearing a tent. A natural waist gown was much more flattering. Just a thought. :)

Those are all beautiful. You really did well in finding "flowy" beachy bride looks :)

My personal favourite is the "Unspoken Love" by Sydney's Closet. But trying some on is your best bet. When I started looking at wedding dresses, I made this list of my "favourites", try a lot of them on....but none that I clicked with. It just looked very different on me (skin tone, hair color, bone structre, body type, etc). I ended up getting a totally different dress than I originally thought would look good on me :)

So yeah, trying some on will give you a better idea. All those dresses are pretty, you have to go with the one you feel is for you.

Hi, welcome! I actually like the whole look they put together on sydneyscloset.com, very pretty! I also like the David's Bridal dresses. I would stay away from Dressilyme, I have two dresses from them, both are not going to work out at all. Also, keep your eye out for pre-owned dresses, you never know what might come up!

Hey there, and grats on your upcoming wedding! Maybe to late, but I love this gown, very simple, but classic at the same time. Can be ordered in a flower shoulder strap or beaded strap, I personally like the flower strap.
