So I was flipping through a slideshow of dress ideas for my mother with her. We came across this one.
Knot, what were you thinking?!
It does say it is a pale pink color but would anyone be upset if their MOB or FMIL showed up in this?

I think it really depends on the person wearing it. IMO, it looks like it’s meant for a “younger” person and I’d want to see the color in person.

It’s too young/trendy for my mom! And my mom’s pretty cool. I would be ok with pale pink, though. As long as it’s not white-white…in fact, it woulda gone perfectly with my colors. If it was too light in person, my mom wouldn’t be comfortable wearing it, though. In fact, she was nervous about wearing red, but i convinced her it was totally a-ok and looked fab. the style…ugh. No. Not too many MOBs can really pull off that style anyways…you have to be in insanely good shape.
It’s kinda looking bland on my computer screen for pale pink, though! Not feeling it.

As long as you like it and she likes it, you’re fine and it doesn’t matter what others think. It’s a pretty dress though.

If a MOB wears it, it’s a MOB dress. Simple as that.

First off, its way to couture for my mom to want to wear it. Secondly, if the color was a true pink, I’d be ok with it. But a pale pink can look white/ivory/beige in certain lighting so that would be a bad move.

Maybe because I am thinking of going with a one strap bridal gown that has similar detailing on the top . . .
This is not a question about my mom either – we were just looking through and I was shocked that this was advertised as a top MOB trend.

My mom is cool and stylish, but even she would say that dress was too young for her.

My mom wouldn’t wear it – too trendy. But I’ve seen pics of older celebs in similar dresses and they look great. As long as it’s pink and you’re wearing something more substantial rather than understated.

@rachelss: Yeah maybe I just reacted the way I did because mine is more understated. Also, I think it is strange to have such YOUNG models show off Mother of the Bride/Groom dresses.

My mom would wear that. She likes to keep up with the styles and loves one shoulder gowns.
I also would not have a problem with her wearing white or light shades (but only her). I’ve seen pictures of beautiful wedding with the MOB wearing white, cream, silver and I love them.

My mom would wear it! She wore a gorgeous peach gown to our wedding. Her priority was not to look ‘mother of the bride-y’ haha, but all moms are different. I would want to see the color in person of the dress in the pic. I wouldn’t be offended by anything my mom wore but I wouldn’t want anyone else thinking badly of her. If it the color was different enough from mine it wouldn’t bother me at all. I don’t think the style is innapropriate – it just depends on the mom.

If this was pink, I think it would be lovely. I guess I don’t get what the big deal is- as long as it isn’t white. No one is going to confuse the bride with her mother- (?) Right?

Um, that looks like a wedding dress to me. Even if it’s pink, it’s photographing like white/ivory, and that’s bad enough.

I agree with Spaniel. It looks like a wedding dress to me!
