I cannot decide which look to go with. My wedding is very formal and in a ballroom.

There's chairs with covers and gold chivari chairs or even chivari chairs with linens. How do I know and how do I decide? I cannot decide!!!!!!!!!!!!!! What is best, what is most classic and what will my guest be wowed by?

PS. OBVIOUSLY I wouldn't use those exact colors even even those exact fabrics .. just using the look for an idea ...

However, the picture of the chairs with white covers and white table is an example some florist did ... which I'm not decided if I even like it or not.

Here's a couple pics of ideas I have.

I prefer the last 2 photos... I couldn't imagine covering the chairs up! These chairs are so beautiful because of the clean lines & I think that the fabric only takes away from the overall look. :)

I think it's a personal choice on what looks best to you. I agree with Recessionista, I would choose the Chiavaris without any covers because I like the look of them in and of itself.

I second...if you are going to pay extra for chivari chairs, why would you cover them up! If you want chair covers I would cut costs by going with the standard ballroom chairs - for chivari I would leave them as they are. At most maybe a simple sash around the back!

The 2nd photo was my "first favorite" photo when I started planning!!!

I agree, I prefer the uncovered chairs. Especially if you were to have those nipped tablecloths from the second photo - the covered chairs just overwhelm the look. The uncovered chairs provide contrast and nice clean lines to offset the covered tables.

Well, yeah I would just use standard ballroom chairs if I covered them. I just cannot decide if I want the look of chivari or a covered chair!!!!!! Ahh.

How can I decide? My planner is urging me that she loves the covered look, the florist who did my example freaked out when I said I like the chivari look ... he like ripped off the cover to show me how he thinks chivaris are disgusting! Hello. I told him I love chivari look when we first met.

Now I'm torn.

@MsHR....if that's what "spoke" to you, and you're okay with any additional cost to do that, then I would say go for it. They're beautiful no matter what, it really comes down to a matter of what your taste is, and what your vision it for your wedding. Whatever you pick, it's going to look gorgeus!

Cellardoor, yeah I don't like the table cloth ... actually. The florist did that, and said that it would match my dress... but my dress isn't anything like that. I don't like the table cover. So I'm just deciding on the chairs!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I love the clean lines too.

Happilywaiting, I loooved gold chivari chairs when I first started planning, the thing that threw me off was that the guy who did my "mock table" ... to show me if I like his work, threw a temper tantrum when I told him I liked the look of chivari chairs.

I said "I love the look of chivari chairs uncovered" So what did the guy do? He tore off the chair cover and was like "THIS IS A CHIVARI CHAIR, DO YOU WANT THIS?" Lol.

I was kind of shocked and scared. Haha. I didn't know what to do. He like implied they're so gross lol. I'm confused.

Eloping: Seriously, I cannot wait to come on weddingbee to discuss all things wedding. Lol.

why did he chuck a hissy fit over the chair - he sounds a bit precious to me..... maybe we missed a fashion memo about them?

You and your chivari chairs, LOL.

I like them UNCOVERED. To me, covered=busy. Uncovered is very chic and clean. They're prettier that way, in my opinion...less busy and cluttery almost. I just think they're so elegant uncovered....

Great minds think alike.

Don't listen to your planner/other people. I wonder what's in it for them? After all, it's YOUR money, not theirs. A friend of mine is getting chair covers at $4/pop b/c her mom has to have them. She doesn't want to spend the money on them because that $400 can be used elsewhere! And I bet I won't care that the chair I'm sitting on is now $4 higher, haha. You can have some sweeet centerpieces for that of money! Or buy a nice camera for your honeymoon? Aw yeah

Ooh I do want a new camera. Like a cool professional looking one that my fiances aunt has, it's a canon I think. I'll have to find out. The pictures are the most flattering I've ever seen.

I want a Canon Rebel. I'm saving...

I think the covers aren't worth the money....I have white wooden folding chairs, though, so what do I know? You should show THOSE to your florist and planner and let them flip their couture nuggets =P

I love the look of the chivari chairs without the linens, like in the last two photos!  I think they deserve to be uncovered:)

I think covered chairs always look messy.  Sometimes they're wrinkled, or dragging on the floor in certain places, or have those ironed-in creases that drive me crazy... ugh!  Go with a simple chair with lovely, clean lines, then put the focus on the top of the table, where it belongs.  :)  When people are sitting down, they're not going to know what kind of chair they're in, but they are going to see how lovely your centerpieces and linens are.

I preferred uncovered chairs as well.  Wasn't it you who was smitten with the ghost chairs? ;)

Blah. Still working on the "chair situation" ... lol. Fiance does NOT like the chivari chairs and has banned them. Lol. THey are apparently too fragile for him. He wants a more substantial chair. So I'm so confused still.

I adore Ghost Chairs. I want a pair for my house.

I also vote for uncovered. Why upgrade to those then cover them up with frumpy looking covers? Shame!

i vote for chivari chairs without the linens.  it keeps it simple and clean, and the chairs themselves are pretty!  why'd anyone want to cover those up!  also, i just think it won't look as messy and drap in pictures and stuff.

I love the first picture... it's like you're getting the best of both worlds. You get your clean lines of the chivari chair back, but the elegance of a chair cover with the seat and legs being covered.

I would say uncovered if you really want Chivari chairs, though that first picture is really cool. If you're looking for formal, maybe that's route to go - you still see the Chivari, but I think it dresses it up even more. :)
