Are there any hobbies that you and FI / DH share?  Or, do you both pretty much do your own thing and then have time together?

We both like to watch sports, so that's something we definately do together. But other than that, we dont' have too many hobbies we share...

This is a good question, and I'm interested to hear what other bees have to say.

For the two of us, we happen to have a lot of activities in common. We're both amateur photographers, and we're obsessed with board games, and we share a common career field, as well (or potential field, in my case: still in school). It takes care of our competitive nature, as well, although we've grumped around the house more than once because someone beat someone else at our favorite game of the month. We're really similar. I think it's great but wonder if it'll cause problems in the long run.

We each have our own (he likes golf, I like crafts) but do share certain ones (like eating, lol).  I like this setup because we each have our own interests but come together as a couple for certain things we both are passionate about.

We definitely do stuff together and also have separate interests we don't share. Sports and outdoors stuff we like to do together, but I like a lot of girlie things (crafts, fashion) and he likes video games and poker.

In fact, we make it a rule to try to spend one day a week apart with friends, and one day where we have a "date" or stay in. It helps keep our relatioinship with each other and friends stronger.

we both love cars, so we go to car shows and stuff like that together, other than that they are pretty much separate as my main other hobby is gardening and he has no interest. my kids help me out with that occasionally. well my oldest does at least.

We met thanks to a shared hobby.  ;)  Other than that, we have a nice mix of shared and not shared hobbies.  As wonderful as it is to share a hobby, it's also nice to have something to do that is separate.

I don't think we have too much in common. We do love watching movies together. Other than that, he really enjoys competitive sports and I just really, really don't. I like exercising, and doing things like hiking, but if he's exercising, he wants to be doing something where he can either beat someone or could easily injure himself-not me.

It's actually been a point of a little stress. He'll sometimes get frustrated that I'm just not that interested in tennis or frisbee. (It doesn't help that if I were to play we'd be playing with a bunch of military men and no other women...perfect).

Our hobbies pretty much revolve around canoe trips/camping / backpacking/hiking/etc.  It was something we both had before we met, and it's been awesome to share it.  I had always hoped for a super outdoorsy husband!  We each have sort of separate hobbies too though - he's really into photography and maintains a photoblog of our area and I do a lot of knitting (and trying to brush up on my sewing skills).

We like to do quite a few things together. We like to watch and play sports, play video games, paint, watch movies and listen to music. When he does something that I am not interested in then I do my own thing and vice versa. We really have a lot of things in common which is great.

We have many hobbies in common. We're best friends and do many things together. We're both computer geeks and love to program and learn. He's a programmer and I'm a web designer/developer. We learn a lot from each other. We also love the outdoors of Maine and go hiking together every weekend or swimming or snowshoeing in winter. :D

One of our favorite places to spend time is Barnes & Noble where we sit for hours and study together. That's where we have met the first time and that's where he proposed to me. :-)

I think it's important to have the same interests..if you only base your relationship on the happy feelings/emotions..and they go away..what are you gonna do then?
