I really loved the Valentine's Day card swap Weddingbee did and I was just curious if this would be happening again for the holidays? It seemed like this was something that the hive had done before when it was discussed then, so seasoned bees is this the case?
I'm excited to send holiday cards for the first time as Mr & Mrs this year, anyone else already planning what you'll be doing?
We did one last year.... I was the main person behind it. We used elfster to do the random drawings. It made things really easy. Since I was the main owner of the swap I tried to send cards to everyone...didn't really succeed but it was really fun. I still have the cards :D....
So, is that you volunteering to be behind it again this year @crebre80? ;)
@lillindy:Lmao!! I would die after the wedding and kids and thank you notes!!!!!
I thought it was SOONERPSYCH who volunteered lol!! Seriously I think our Elfster group is still up because I get notices sometimes when b-days are close.
@crebre80: (chanting...) SOONERPSYCH!! SOONERPSYCH!! SOONERPSYCH!!
I'll volunteer to head this one up! I'll likely set up the swap stuff on Sunday or Monday (working tomorow, attending a wedding Saturday). Is that okay with everyone? I'll keep you posted!
ETA - Sorry, SoonerPsych if you want to head it up, please do go ahead. I don't want to steal your thunder! Just let me know!
I don't know what this is but I have awesome holiday cards that I would like to send to someone so yay!
id love to take part too, i love christmas, and the holidays, (hence my dec. 20th wedding date :) ) just wondering if we are sending just cards, or card with a little box of suprises like in the valentines day one?
I would be interested in participating. Not volunteerting to head it up though. To busy with the wedding coming up. I missed out on the Valentines one :-(
Last year we just did cards nothing fancy. A few of us made cards, some bought them but I loved all of them.
Ha, I'm all for @bakerella doing it!
I know with Valentines we did handmade cards, I even got a mini photo album from one bee! They were awesome. I can't remember what site we used though.
I love the holidays, and any excuse to spread cheer! I am SO in!
@MissBoPeep: I'm going to set up an account on Elfster. From what I understand (I've never used it before so bare with me here...), I post a link and then you all click on it, enter whatever info is needed, and then I push a few magic buttons and it says emails you to say who you're exchanging with. I know for Valentine's day we each exchanged with 3 other people, do we want to do that again or just one other?
I think 3 is good, I'll add a poll to the post and we'll find out!
Thanks soonerpsych! I'll have to delve a bit deeper into Elfster and see what the options are. I know for Swapbot you could say how many people each was to swap with, so I'm hoping Elfster is the same!
ohh the Valentine's Day swap was so fun - count me in!!! Who doesn't love getting good mail (not bills, blah!) at the holidays!!!!???
Oh this sounds like a lot of fun!! I would like to do that too! I wasn't here last year either, so this is new to me. What a fun idea!! :)
I think 3 is perfect, it's not too little and not too many. It's just right!
@picturemeurs: Ooh, that's a good question. I think I remember there being an option to participate internationally if you wanted, but maybe crebre or bakerella knows?
I'm new to weddingbee this year so I've never taken part in anything like this. Would anyone mind explaining what the concept is? I would love to be involved!
Yes you can participate all that you want. Last year I know there was an issue because some postage was a bit more...
@UpstateCait: We just send Christmas cards to the other bees. I handstamped mine last year with the kiddies and they had a friggin blast doing it!! This year I'll have a new last name (I am totally tearing up again).
If it is not a problem that I am in Canada (and hence postage might be a little more), I would love to join as well. If not, don't worry, I won't be offended! Or maybe we can set up one for Canadian bees to avoid the higher postage?
NOTE: This is not me volunteering (as much as I would love to, at almost any other time of the year) - school and working full-time is exhausting me lately and I don't know how to set it up. :( Sorry for being a party pooper!
I guess i shoudl point out that I am Canadian as well....
Im okay with the higher postage though...as receiving cards from the states or elsewhere seems a little more exotic *laugh*
If everyone is not okay with that though I am willing to help set up a canadian one. (based on that idea that the other bee who is organzing this helps me...I have never done it before!!)
@tksjewelry: I think you'll be hearing more about it by Monday. :)
