I say use an engagement photo no one has seen. Honestly, I think getting a holiday card with a wedding photo from someone who got married 10 months prior would be a little strange.

I say go for it! You only get so long to be able to enjoy sharing your wedding pictures (at least on something like cards!)

@LiliKitty: Yeah I was wondering about that. I feel like some people would love it, and some might be thinking, “Uh, littlemisst08, you know it’s been almost a year now.”

I did a wedding photo for our first married Christmas, and a lot of people I know use one for their first year together. It’s the biggest thing that happened to you that year so I don’t see why you couldn’t

@hazyleyedbeauty: See, and that’s the pro to using a wedding photo. I paid for these so damnit I’m gonna use em!!!

@littlemisst08: It’s your first married Christmas together, so why not? It’ll be cute 🙂

I get a ton of cards that people took on vacation over the summer and I wasn’t concerned that it was months ago. It’s a way to showcase something big that happened over the past year. Do it!

We are just debating this too. I”m like, we paid beaucoup bucks for these photos and they’re the best ones we have of us, so let’s get more use out of them. He’s like, I think we’ve had enough attention on the wedding for now. (Noooooo!)
We’ll probably go with a different photo since I don’t want to make him feel weird about it…

we are going to use a wedding photo. i think thete are people who would like to see it (esp older aunts etc who couldnt travel to our semi destination)
we were just married in oct and didnt want to wait for our pictures to do thank you cards so this is the only time we are planning to ‘use’ the pics

@littlemisst08: I would use an engagement photo no one has seen like the PP suggested.

@littlemisst08: use the e-photo no one has seen.

Well I probably wouldn’t but then that’s because we tend to take the mickey out of people who do. It’s commonplace for the Queen’s Christmas card to be a family photograph (I hate to admit that I know this for a fact) and quite honestly, it tends to look so arriviste when ordinary people do the same.
But hey, you know your friends and family and let’s face it, there’s no rule to say you can’t!

UPDATE: We didn’t use a wedding photo OR an old engagement photo. We took this fabulous picture at the football stadium at Texas A&M a month ago, and when I really thought about it a photo like this is so us. Everyone knows we are avid fans, so I think they’ll all smile when they see it.
Thanks for all the input, bees. There are good points to both sides of the debate and, like most things, it’s important to stick with what feels right for you!
