Holiday shopping – do you love it or loathe it?

@Aquaria:  I like xmas because it gets the whole family together (we go to Russia) but I do not like how materialistic it has become. I loathe it, but I don’t really do much of it. Generally, if you aren’t getting a savings bond (my nieces and nephews – plus one thing to open up), then I ordered it off Amazon. I hate malls at the best of times and xmas is the worst of times.

Loathe it. So much time and money that I could be using for other priorities.

Love Xmas!  I love decorating, but I do not particularly enjoy shopping.  My husband and I often do not exchange gifts, and we end up buying other people stuff solely because we feel we ought to.  I would prefer to skip the whole gift-exchanging thing.

I enjoy buying presents for people but I loathe doing it at Christmas time – too many people. This year I am doing it all online and avoiding city centres if at all possible!

I don’t mind it.. most of my shopping is done waaaay before Xmas. I shop through the year, as I go along. I hate malls in December… sooo crowded!!

Of course it’s stressful when you see your credit card bill is in the thousands come January haha. We save a bit as we go along for Xmas/birthday presents as well, so it’s not a financial crunch.

I really enjoy getting for everyone! There are times where it is too stressful. But mostly I just LOVE that time of year and spending it with loved ones.

One thing I really try not to do is go Black Friday shopping. It’s like, lets be thankful for everything we have and go out and buy a bunch of more stuff. I don’t like being pushed or shoved or even trampled. And I’m certainly not fighting you over the last blender!

I love it! It gets harder and harder every year to think of ideas though.

Love it! I try to spread out my spending so it doesn’t hit all at once. I’ve already started shopping!

I love it! So much fun! My favorite is shopping for stocking stuffers for everyone and for my FIs gifts. I even like shopping at the mall during that time– it feels so festive! I also love decoratin my house. I have two christmas trees every year! 🙂

I love the idea of the holidays, the family get-togethers and church activites.  But, the money that goes into it and the gift giving; really needs to stop!

LOATHE.  I hate trying to buy for people I see once a year and have no idea what they like; not to mention the obligatory feeling of having to buy them something just because of the date.  We are normally fly to a family members house, so I’ve never done any Xmas tree, dinner or gift exchange on my own as an adult.  I think H and I will be just us for Xmas this year, and I have no plans of doing a tree.

I personally think gifts shouldn’t feel obligatory and should be done when the person wants to give whichever day of the year it happens to be.

@Aquaria:  Mostly loathe now that I celebrate with FI’s family. His family has a tradition where they do a gift exchange for Hanukkah (just for one night, thankfully) with some family friends. So I have to buy each person a gift, and it’s hard finding decent gifts for people I don’t know THAT well. It stresses me out!

Luckily, my family is pretty upfront with each other about what we want for Christmas, which makes it a lot easier.

I love it.  But you’re asking the girl that has all of her Christmas shopping done already.

I usually try to have 90% of it done by Halloween every year.

I love buying presents for others and I really don’t mind how busy the stores become either as long as others are in good moods as well 🙂
