Whine whine whine. I know its only my fault for letting my workout plan go to pot over the holidays as well as overeating rich holiday food and drinking too many mimosas and glasses of wine….BUT I am so annoyed that I put on weight and feel like I am back to square 1.
I had been working out 3-4 days a week and being quite good on the diet front. I had gotten to about 141 (want to be 128 for wedding in June). But, as of this morning I am almost back to 150. Ugh! I don’t even want to get dressed because I feel like I am busting out of everything. Gross. I am so disappointed with myself!
Anyone else go crazy and lose the fitness plan over December? Any ideas about how not to get discouraged and get back on track? I am feeling mopey and sorry for myself today lol. Just looking for other bees needing to seriously get back on track ASAP!!!

I lost it over the break here too – there was way too much yummy food! You just have to get back into it. I wouldn’t be surprised if a lot of your weight gain is just bloating from water retention and a higher salt intake. That weight will drop pretty quick once you start exercising again. Don’t get too stressed out though! We all overindulge sometimes.
I am back to using MyFitnessPal to track my food intake. It is amazing how much of a difference you can make by just watching what you are eating. When the weight starts dropping, you get even more motivated! I am also starting the c25k plan, so I will see how that goes. I would like get back to working out 3-4 days a week (I am in school two nights a week plus working full time, so more than 4 is pretty tough to do most of the time).
The biggest thing is that you can do it! (And you know you can!) Don’t feel sorry for yourself because if there is one thing I have learned, it is that you are the only one who can make these changes happen. And you will certainly feel better about yourself as soon as you start back at it. I always feel so much better when I am exercising that I wonder why I stopped in the first place! Good luck 🙂

Oh, it happened to me too. The week before Christmas I was sick. I haven’t been to the gym for about a week and a half, but back I go tomorrow morning!
You’ll get back on track!!

I just managed to maintain over the holidays – but this year is a new year! This week is a new week! Today is a new day 🙂 You can do it!

I gained back almost all my weight over Christmas (actually the whole month of December) and was pretty bummed. I worked out 3 times since before Thanksgiving after going to the gym 4 days a week before the holidays (hell-idays as we call them at work). Then I returned to the gym this past Tuesday and for the first time in my *entire life* I loved every second of my workout and felt so energized afterwards! I always thought those people were psychos who felt great after working out because I always felt pissed off and agitated that I just wasted my time… now I’m one of those psychos!
I would encourage you to get back on the bandwagon, as difficult as it may be and as disappointed in yourself as you may be because that weight you gained is not permanent weight since it was over such a short time and will go away pretty quickly! I can already feel myself losing the weight just because I’m not eating the amounts I did around Christmas/New Years.
Keep it up girl! Also, we weigh about the same!

- Wedding: May 2011 - Bartram's Garden
I gained back 3 of the 23 pounds I lost in the four days surrounding Christmas. Luckily, it’s gone again. But my advice is to just keep going – don’t let the weight gain slow you down!

I gained back about half of what I had lost so far :(. I’m back to diet sodas, though, so hopefully I can get it back off!

Aw no worries, girlfriend. I don’t know anyone who didn’t gain lbs over the holiday. Just start hitting the gym again and you’ll be fine:)
On a side note, the gym was freakin packed last night! Every single treadmill was being used. This never happens… never! I practically had to stalk someone for a treadmill.

Thank you ladies!! I have cut all alcohol so far this month and plan to continue until Feb! It is empty calories and destroys my will power. After a few glasses of wine, I am SO prone to take yet another chocolate bar/bowl of chips from the kitchen!
I did yoga this week and am about to hit the gym this afternoon. I have dropped 2lbs of water weight, so at least I am at 147 today! But the FH brought home thai green curry and M&Ms last night….and I HAD to eat it lol!!!
But I found out I am getting my wedding dress in mid-March, so I hope to have dropped 20lbs by St. Paddys…thats 2lbs a week until then. I woke up feeling committed today! So here goes!
Thanks for all your support, advice, and commiseration 🙂 It made me feel a lot less pathetic lol

don’t let it get you down. get yourself back in the gym. after you recommit yourself to your goals & get moving again, you’ll feel better & see the progress again. bumps in the road are always bound to happen & we’re always allowed bad days … just don’t let that get in the way of what you want! good luck!
