Now, while I love the idea of having a nice pram, does it seem nuts to anyone else that good ones cost upwards of 600 pounds?? Will I be a terrible mother if I buy a nice one on EBay for 200 and then disinfect the crap out of it?

Have you checked Amazon? I'm seeing lots of them for ~£200 on there.

@UK Bride:  I feel you. I was at John Lewis the other day and the bulk were around £1,400 upwards. Erm, that wont be happening. What pram are you looking for?

@Sea_bass:  Well, a friend of mine used to work at Mothercare, so she was pointing me toward the bugaboo and silver cross ones. You? Was there anything good at John Lewis?

@UK Bride:  I've been recommended the bugaboo. At John Lewis they were all over £1,000. Le Sigh. If you found them for £600 that's a lot cheaper! I saw a lot of second had ones on ebay, which might be the way to go. You can buy new fabrics as well so i'd either wash the fabrics that came with, or I would buy new. Sigh Sigh.

Sea bass: Yeah, the one I saw was an ex display model going in the New Year sales. When I got home and looked up what the new ones cost, I just about had a heart attack.

@UK Bride:  Go round the shops and seek out the models you like - try them, push them round the store, try and fold them and then go home and search the internet.  Then use a website like http://www.pricerunner.co.uk/ and find the best offer for that particular model.  For example, just doing a search now, I found a Chicco Trio Enjoy Fun Travel System who'se online prices start from 198pounds in bambino direct and go up to 402pounds in Boots.

There are some nice new ones at cheaper prices too..Mamas and Papas Sola, also look at Mothercare's range, UppaBaby (actually better than the iCandy in my opinion)...

Unless you are wealthy or someone is buying it for you, spending a grand is too much..everything else you need to buy adds up!!
