I’m actually amazed if anything so I had to come here and share my little luck today! 🙂
I’m needing a ton of of jars for my wedding; at least 150 or so. I practically gave up since I’ve been hunting high and low, posting wanted ads and after 6 month only have 20. Well lastnight I answered an ad for “some jars” and when I showed up a lady had SEVENTEEN boxes full for me!!! Turned out a far off relative of her’s was a jar hoarder and when he passed away, she had to take them. She only kept the good ones and handed them off to me! I was so thrilled and today it was my misson to clean them and figure something out.
Well just now, I got a phone call to an old wanted ad from a guy who has another 6 dozen waiting for me and 7 dozen winebottles as well!! This is EXACTLY what I needed!!! So I’m off and running to pick them up and crossing my fingers I should have more than enough to satisfy! 🙂
Thanks for listening!

I’m happy for you. I remember an older post where you mentioned you were having trouble finding jars. Glad you lucked out.

That is awesome! I was lucky, the time of year worked out perfect for me becuase it was getting close to canning time, so all of our local stores were stocked full of jars!

Thank you lovely ladies!! It’s fun looking in these boxes because I’ve found old jars from the 60’s and a few that were canned back in 1982 and unopened EW!!! LMAO …there are only a few of those so I don’t think I’m gutsy enough to open and clean!

What are you doing with the jars? I would love to see a pic!

How exciting! I had a similar experience myself- I knew I wanted to use blue Ball jars for our vases… There is just something about that transparent blue that I love 😀
I had already collected about 20 on my own through thrift stores, and paid about $1-$3 each for them before I enlisted my family to help me find them.
I gave them all a heads up that I was looking for them shortly after getting engaged (is it bad that I had the 20-some collected before getting engaged?) and less than a month later I get a phone call from my sister.
She was at Salvation Army on a whim, and they had boxes and boxes of blue Ball Jars for $3 a box. I immediately told her to buy them all, not even knowing how many I was getting.
In the end, I got about 52 jars for $18. So, now I have tons 😀

Congratulations on finding the jackpot of jars!!!! I am looking for the blue jars and would be interested in buying any jars that you lovely ladies don’t need/after your wedding. My wedding will be September 3, and I am in Kentucky! Thanks and good luck with the rest of your planning!
