I’m in a bit of shock. It’s our five year dating anniversary today, and the last one we’ll celebrate before we get married next year. I have a family heirloom ring, his grandmother’s ring, and I love it. He decided on his own that I deserved my own ring, and while he was on a business trip to the US last month, he found a ring that he said screamed me.
Here’s me old ring, about 0.90 of a carat with about half a carat in the band.
So here’s my second engagment ring, a two toned .75 center diamond, with an additional carat in the halo and the side band. I’ve matched it with my rose gold promise band, but won’t wear it like that.
I’m in shock over the ring. He gave it to me this afternoon, at our lunch date. We always celebrate our anniversary at lunch because our first date was a lunch date, and as we were walking around downtown Calgary, he asked to see my engagement ring, and gave a cute speech about how while he loved the story behind the ring he gave me, and how amazing it is to see me wearing his grandmother’s ring, he also wanted to give me a ring that was mine, and was from him, and he pulled out this! I think I’ll start wearing my original ring on my right hand, and this on my left, and I’ll for sure wear both on our wedding day. I still can’t believe this ring is mine!
