This is my first post here so be gentle with me 🙂 I just got engaged and couldn’t be happier!! It is however occurring to me just how many decisions will need to be made over the next few months! My fiance is from the USA and all of his family are there and I am British with all my family here. So obvious first question, where do we hold the wedding. I have read feeds about having a ceremony in one place and a party in another but isn’t that just costly? Should we be neutral and have a destination wedding. We have the added complication that my father is very ill and won’t be able to travel too far.
Any suggestions will be a help! Thanks

I definitely agree with a destination wedding so it’s neutral. Think about how far your father will be able to go and take it from there. His health is very important obviously, and I’m sure your FI and his family will understand that.
How long can he stay in a plane?

@Rubbs: Thanks for your advice! You make a good point. He is probably not up to anymore than an hour or two on the plane at a push. Neutral is fairest though…

Depends on where you will be moving to and living permanently. My FI is English, and I am American. We are having our wedding in the States for a number reason, and a main one is that we will be living in England after marrying. Americans get the wedding, the English get me living nearby!

@bowsergirl: That’s an interesting idea. We will be moving back to the USA in a couple of years so maybe it is fair to have the wedding in the UK!
