My friend Andy had the swine as well, but of course he's fine and dandy by now. Amazing how some people make it sound like anyone who gets it is going to die. Gotta love our media and news channels. Well I hope you feel better! Have some yummy chicken noodle soup.
@Starcharades: YES! Everyone who knows I have the dreaded swine gets so freaked out when they hear, they immediately start asking me if I'm heading to the hospital. It's the news making it sound so bad. My doctor told me that a lot of people who contract it don't even know it; they think they just have a normal cold or flu and that's one of the reasons it is spreading so rapidly, is people don't realize they are sick and still go to work/school.
Hope you feel better soon. I'm so sick of the media and swine flu. I have kids and at one point someone was freaking out on me because I don't feel safe about having them get the h1n1 vaccine. I understand it's like all other flu shots, but if so, why do we have to have two this year? Anyway, hope you feel better!
Thanks for posting this, Noelle, and I hope you feel better! The media is making this seem like some guaranteed death sentence, and it's not!
I think I had it a couple weeks ago. Hit me suddenly, had a terrible cough, a fever just over 100 and sneezy/congested/achy/exhausted feeling. Because its me, it turned into bad bad bronchitis, but a little antibiotics and rest for a week and I was okay.
They are saying the strain that's going around this fall is not as bad as it was in the spring and people don't seem to realize they have had it.
It really bugs me when people come to work sick. Stay home, work from home if you can. No need to be a hero!
I had H1N1 last week. When i went to the Target to get my script filled for Tamiflu, the doctor told me it would be wise to wear a mask. While I felt like a dork, I did. The woman helping at the Pharmacy (not the pharmacist) saw me and was like, "Do you have it?" And I asked, "Have what?"
She said H1N1 and I told her yes. Then she goes, "What does it feel like?" And I just looked at her and said, "It feels like THE FLU!"
I mean seriously? If you've ever seen the movie St. Elmo's Fire, Rob Lowe is sitting around the dinner table at his girlfriend's parent's house. Apparently when her mother thinks something is really tragic she whispers it. Example: "did you hear about Ann? (in a loud whisper: "Cancer") This is how this woman was talking to me.
I had it too a few weeks ago. Body aches, high fever, 3 days of misery, and then 2 days of just exhaustion...but I'll take H1N1 over a "regular" flu ANY day of the week!
Also, I got on Tamiflu within 18 hours of having symptoms, and I think it really helped. It also helps that I'm over 25...apparently it hits younger people harder than those of us who are eligible for the 30+ board ;-)
That stinks, but I'm glad to hear it's not this terrible, life threatning MESS that the media makes it out to be. I didn't get a flu shot for regular flu or H1N1- I've never had one and I've never had the flu, so I figured it was a waste of time, money, and PAIN.
you poor thing=( i really hope you get well soon! being sick is terrible, especially after such a special day! God bless!
I'm glad you're not dying!
The swine flu is really only dangerous to elderly people and young children (as most illnesses are), so young, healthy adults don't need to worry about it so much. The media is making too big a deal out of it, so it's really freaking everyone out.
KMSull, I think this is the second time I will be agreeing with you tonight. I didn't get the shot, either. I know tons of people who have gotten it and most of them ended up in the hospital with the flu anyway. So, yeah...total waste of money.
I too think that I ended up with "Porky's Revenge" the other week. Achey, fatique, congested, sneezy, cough, fever. Lasted from Tues to Sunday. Not fun. Not nearly as bad as the walking pneumonia back in 2007.
*hugs* definitely no fun. I'm all sick and gross ... but not too worried about the H1N1 ... guess I should be hoping whatever I have passes quickly. But definitely hope you feel better!
Thanks all, but now I'm wondering why my doc didn't give me tamiflu!!!! Oh well, guess I didn't need it since I'm feeling somewhat better.
OMG! I hope you feel better soon! Tamiflu can be really expensive, though, if your insurance doesn't cover it (mine doesn't; I had the flu this summer), so if you're not very sick maybe it's not so bad that you didn't get any?
yah allot of doctors don"t even give out tamaflu for it anymore
Feel better all you sickies! I know a lot of kids are getting H1N1 in my area, but I feel like I've been able to avoid it so far.

At least it happened after the wedding. But just wanted to come on here and tell you all; it feels like any other mild flu. Don't think I'm in danger of dying. I'm not even throwing up, and my fever broke last night so I think it'll be getting better from here on out.
Just to maybe put anyone's mind at ease who was totally freaked about it.
