Yes! The ring is getting picked this weekend..and he’s proposing “sometime in the fall,” so anytime in the next month or two! AHHH. I am a nail biter, but as soon as he told me that it’s definitely happening this fall, I stopped biting. Hoping I can hold out until he proposes (and don’t bite them to bits from all the nerves).

So exciting for you! Congrats – the wait is almost over!

@aquarius_91:  Yep! Over a year of waiting for me too. And he’s getting the ring next Friday! We’ll see how long he holds on to it, but I’m 90% sure it’ll be before the end of Oct!

I know what you mean about the nails. I work construction and I have painted my nails maybe 10 times in my entire life. Luckily I quit biting them about a year ago, so at least there is that. I’m sure once you get your ring, the last thing anyone is going to be looking at are your nails 😛

@nber0815:  The longer you go without biting them the easier it is! I bit my nails for over 20 years. I’m about 10 months in without bitting them now. Maybe try keeping them painted? More incentive not to bite. Also, I carried nail clippers with me. If I ever got tempted to bite them, I’d clip them instead so there is nothing to bite. Good luck!

@NotablySidedJP:  Ugh, I have tried EVERYTHING. Whenever I paint them, I’ll let them be (and look nice) for a couple of days, but then when I get bored, I end up picking the nail polish off. I’ve also tried the bitter nail polish stuff – didn’t work for me. The longest I think I’ve made it without biting is like 2 weeks – the worst part is that often times, I don’t even realize I’m doing it until it’s too late.

@aquarius_91:  Ahh I do that too. Probably more than actually biting my nails. It’s super gross, I have to stop.

@nber0815:  Well hopefully you get there. I was the same way. I tried quitting several times over the years. I think the part that really made me quit was when SO made an absent minded comment. I said something about needing to quit and he said something along the lines of “Yea, it’s pretty gross.” I don’t think he meant it to hurt my feelings, but it did. Ever since then, I’ve been too self concious to bite them. They still look pretty goofy because I bit them for so long and the pink lines (between the pink and white on the nails) are all jagged even when I do let them grow out. I guess I should start painting them. haha.

@NotablySidedJP:  Unfortunately, SO bites his nails too! We’re a mess haha. I’m definitely going to try stopping again, and the upcoming proposal gives me great motivation!

OOo the SO talking to the ILs how exciting! That’s got to be a little unnerving for your SO as well. Congrats! Can’t wait to read how your SO proposes!

@nber0815:  my solution was gel polish mainicures – they cost more but also last longer than normal polish (apart from growing out mine last 3-6 weeks without chipping!) – double reasons to not nibble! haha

Good luck – hope it happens soon!!

My SO and I both bite our nails. I am hoping for a proposal at the end of this month since we are taking a nice trip to Atlanta. I hadn’t thought about trying to stop biting my nails since he has told me that he will take me after I get my ring to get my nails done. He knows that if he takes me before it happens I will know something is up. I will try my hardest to stop biting them and use my ring as motivation. There is excitement all over this post!!! Good vibes ladies!! I hope to see lots of proposal stories soon.

@aquarius_91:  i think so! the ring is slated to be finished by the end of november (but hopefully sooner!), so i’m hoping that we’re engaged by christmas so we can celebrate with our family and friends when we come home!

i’m completely insane about manicures and haven’t had bare nails in literal years, so for me, i’ve made a mini promise to myself to pay a little more attention to my hair. it’s long and thick and i often just stuff it in a bun – i’d like to be a bit more polished 🙂

All I know is “before Halloween”.

WHAT DOES THIS MEAN?! Mental terrorists.

I think he thought it would appease me, but it’s just made me an even bigger pain in his ass. Cool

Jokes on him, now he has to smell nail polish & remover once every two days. HA! I am keeping these puppies bee-a-u-tiful!

Looking forward to your proposal story… so exciting!
