Quilting is one of my favorite hobbies so doing quilts for my BMs was a pretty fast decision for me. I started really early because I didn't want to be up sewing the night before my wedding. I hoped to get them done before my bridal shower so I could gift the girls then, but that didn't happen. Tomorrow is my bachelorette though, and I finished the last quilt last night! They'll get some other stuff at the rehearsal dinner, but I wanted to give them the quilts while it was still early enough in winter to get a bit of use of them!

    Anyone else make home-made gifts?

WOW! that is impressive!! I have never quilted but I know from friends that have that it is a HUGE time commitment and a lot of work. That is so special that you did that for them! And they look awesome! Really cute. I'd love to make something for mine, but I don't have a regular crafting hobby that I'm particularly skilled at. Maybe I'll try to think of something homemade cause I would be so happy to get something as sweet and personal as one of those quilts!

Thanks girls, I hope they like them! Each of them, throughout the years, has asked me to make them a quilt and I never got around to it/they never picked colors... so this seemed like a good time. They're cuddle-size (not bed size) so they don't need to match their houses or anything, but I hope I picked fabric they like.

Those are wonderful!!!!!  Do you machine or hand quilt?  Quilting is on my long list of things that I wish I did.  Those are PERFECT gifts.

@nmsoonerbride: They are hand-tied, not actually quilted. I guess "quilting" is kind of a misnomer, but that is still what its called even when they are tied. :) Quilts I've made that I want to be quilted I send out once I"m done with them.

LOVE LOVE LOVE!!! If I had the patience to make quilts, I'd probably make one for every single person I know, for ever single occasion (Can you tell I have an extreme love for all things comfy?). Alas, I do not have the patience...so all my friends will just have to be cold:) I think it's a brilliant idea...I think my bridesmaids will probably just be getting jewelry though.

These are GORGEOUS! What a wonderful gift. I would love to be one of your bridesmaids!

I make handmade jewelry, so I'll be making my Bridesmaids' earrings, necklaces and bracelets. For each bracelet, i'm incorporating each bridesmaid's birthstone and mine :)

Those are SOOOOO cute! I'm so jealous.. I wish I could quilt! FI's mom quilts for a hobby & she made me a quilt one year for my birthday.  She's making us another quilt for the wedding, and agreed to make us a small quilt with messages from our wedding party.  She's going to send out quilt squares to each of them (there's 14 total) and when they write their message and send it back, she's going to sew them into a small quilt, in addition to our big quilt.

Seriously though your girls will LOVE that, especially if they've asked you to make them in the past! I love homemade gifts, or even store-bought gifts that are just extra thoughtful.. these are awesome!

Do you sell your quilts?  That's the kind of project I'm always sure I can do until I'm halfway through and realize that my perfectionism will never allow me the patience to finish.  :(  A friend of mine made one while expecting her baby (born yesterday!!!) and I'm so jealous because I know I'll try to do the same thing but get frustrated and give up.

Thanks everyone!! They loved them-- yay! All of them told me the next day they actually slept with them Sat night, hah! So glad they were well-received. :)

@deliciousappleblue: I don't. I was thinking about opening up an etsy shop actually because I really enjoy making them, but fabric is so expensive and I'm not the quickest sewer ever... so I figured out how much I'd have to charge just to make it moderately worth my time and I don't believe any sane person would pay that for a quilt heh. You should keep trying though! I have worked on these since May, so it has been a slow hour-here/hour-there type project. It is so satisfying when they're done!

@ohheavenlyday: don't feel badly! I would LOVE if I could afford to pay for my girls to get their hair and makeup done. I definitely can't so I just told them they didn't need to get it done, although they've all decided to get their hair done and just skip the makeup.
