I want to have my wedding at Homewood in Asheville. We are inviting 150 people, all from out of town (most flying in). People say I can expect 90-105 to actually attend. I am concerned that Homewood is too small to accomodate 100 people with a plated dinner and a live band and dancing. I am also worried that the bar room is too tiny and it will just be cramped. Has anyone had a wedding at Homewood who can give me some advice? Thanks!

I love Asheville, it’s a beautiful town.
I always heard that it was 10% who wouldn’t attend, and that means you should expect 135 guests! Eeek. Even so, never assume people wont be able to attend, people like weddings 🙂
How many people can your venue actually hold? Does Homewood have someone who could advise you? If it really only is 100 (or less) then I suggest an A and B list. I know it’s not hugely popular but trying to squeeze another 50 people may be impossible.
ETA according to thier website:
The Ballroom comfortably provides space for dinner seating for just over 110 people, with room for dance floor and setup for your DJ or small band. With a heavy hors d’oeuvres menu and cocktail seating, we can accommodate up to about 150 people inside Homewood. For larger events, the lawn provides a lovely setting for a tented reception.
