Alright ladies, I need your HONEST opinion on this dress I bought yesterday for my bachelorette party that is Saturday night. We're going out to eat at a nice restaurant/music venue and then out to the bars after that (not sure which yet) in Nashville, TN.
The horizontal stripes plus the slim fit just have me unsure; I've been on a weight loss mission the past few months and have dropped 16 pounds, but I'm still very self-conscious.
What do you think of this on me? (first pic has no belt, rest are with a belt I bought there)

*Note* Please leave a comment even if you vote no :)
I think the dress is really fun, and I think it looks really figure-flattering with the belt! I say go for it! :)
I think its perfect for a bachlorette... its sexy, pretty, formfitting and you look hot. ;)
Too cute! From the pictures, I think you look great. Reward yourself for losing those 16 pounds and wear that dress! And have fun, as a former TN girl, I've had many great nights in Nashville!
Thanks for the comments so far girls! I wish people voting no would comment as well? lol
Honestly I am not a big fan of that dress but you do look really nice 'n sexy!!
I noticed another picture from your gallery that I really like: http://s529.photobucket.com/albums/dd339/krgk84/?action=view¤t=DSC03868.jpg
@Ipodgirl - yeah that one is actually my 2nd choice of what I have, butttt somehow in the many moves I've mad over the past couple years, it got some long snags of some kind in the skirt....not insanely noticeable butttt def. visible...
Okay, I voted no. I LOVED it at first glance, TONS. But then as I looked at it more and more, it just looked, thrown together, for lack of a better description. Like black electrical tape wrapped around a really pretty dress. But that's just my opinion. BUT, it does make your body look AWESOME!! And I totally dig the shoes!!
I DO however, LOVE the black and white flower dress AND the lace halter top dress. Are those options!?
@jezzybell - I guess they could be options but when I looked at the photos of them I think they kinda make me look larger than I am
Well, in the end, pick the dress that makes YOU, feel great. If you end up choosing something you didn't REALLY want to wear because of people's opinions, and you are not as excited about it, you'll kick yourself in the butt for it. There is nothing worse than wearing something that you're not comfortable in or don't FEEL good in.
BUT, if you ask me, I think you look GREAT in the other dresses as well. =)
i kinda don't like the dress...... reminds me of a jailwear? but just the pattern itself, not the dress as a whole. but LOVE THE SHOES!
I said no because I don't really like the dress. You look great, so it's not about you, but I really don't like the black stripes. They kind of look like pleather to me. You can definitely wear that style of dress, though.
I love it! It looks great on you! But I don't know about the belt--there's something weird about it. I think it looks great without the belt in the first pic.
It's a cute style for your bachelorette party! It suits you well!
Where did you get the red heels?? I love them!!
I really like the dress, but I think I may like it best without the belt... or tie the belt in the back instead of at the side. I think it looks really great on you - and I worry about horizontal stripes too - but the dress looks very sexy and slimming. However, and this is just my opinion, when tying the belt on the side - it extends that line of black out further and you lose the nice hourglass figure that you get without the belt on at all, so that's why I recommend no belt or belt in back.
Have a great party!!
Hi enmoore66 - Yeah I see what you mean; I just tied it that way cause that's how they had it on the mannequin. hahaha
Thanks for the opinions everyone! When Saturday comes I'll try the belt with the "bow" part on the side and then on the back and see what it looks like. For whatever reason I feel less insecure when I have the belt on...I guess cause it sucks me in? lol
I love that dress...of course i'm a bit biased...i have almost that exact same pair of shoes that i love wearing with anything b&w. I think with the belt it makes the dress look more polished. You look killer!
You look gorgeous in it:) I wish I had your body so go out enjoy yourself and know that you look hot:) Just have fun:)
You look great. I agree with the girls who mentioned that the black trim doesn't quite work on the dress. It looks a little like a random add -on. Having said that, the cut of the dress is great and without the black bits, it's a winner in my book :)
@doctorgirl The black belt or the actual black on the dress? I know the dress is actually called the "Brushstroke" dress or something like that, so I think it's supposed to look like black painted strips kinda?
Well the first part that caught my eye was the black trim at the top with a white interspersed with it-like the fabric was crunched and the black wasn't applied uniformly (I know that was the look that they were going for, it just rubbed me the wrong way). Then I noticed the belt. Again, I love the cut, I just with the designer didn't go with black incompletely filled in stripes.
How do you feel about it? What is making you hesitant? Is it the same elements that are being brought up by others? You should feel beautiful and love your dress that night. I wore jeans and a cardigan for my bachelorette and I have to admit, I regret it a little-- but it's just so me ;)
Nah, I like the style of it and all that; I think it was the slim fit of the dress and the general idea of horizontal stripes that had me nervous/hesitant
I think the horizontal stripes thing is part myth - if done correctly, they can give you a sexy hourglass shape and I think you are rocking that here! I voted yes but I do agree I'm not as crazy about the belt (sorry!) I think it looks good just by itself!
I voted no. I'm not too crazy about the horizontal stripes on you. The belt does make it better (for your figure), but everything is just "too much". You would look much better if the dress was all white, and you had the black belt and the red shoes. My opinion with bright color shoes is always keep the rest of the outfit simple.
I just have to say--you are adorable! And I think you look great in the dress--congrats on the weight loss. You have a great figure. The dress is not necessarily my style, but I think the fit looks great on you, and if you like the style then I say definitely go for it.
i'm sorry, you're gorgeous but i don't really think the dress is very flattering....just my opinion and i seem tobe in the minority here...whatever you end up wearing, feel fabulous in it and have so much fun at ur bachelorette!
I think you look great. Don't love that belt tho...the black of that seems to contrast with the black on the dress and when blacks don't match, well, it's not a good look. Maybe spruce it up w a red skinny belt.
I voted no, because I am not a huge fan of the pattern on the dress. I like it best without the belt. That said, the shape looks great on your figure, very sexy!
You are a hot tamale! W-O-W!
I am making my wow face. Put three fingers up on each side of your face and open your mouth to an "o"
W-O-W!!!
Wear it! You will make the guys jealous they are not getting you!!!!
@runrgurl10 - what particularly about it do you think is unflattering?
I voted yes! I love it and think you look amazing in it!
OK, after re-visiting the pics and looking more closely at the dress and you in it, I totally rescind my comment about not being flattering. I only looked at the first 2 or 3 pics the first time and I thought the black parts of the dress were a satiny material and stretching to fit your shape. After seeing the rest, which I think were taken from a better angle, I realized the black actually has bits of white coming in, almost like it was painted on, which is a completely different story. That's my bad for offering up an uneducated opinion. I guess the only thing that I would say is maybe the belt was tied a little too tight? Your shape is beautiful (hourglass what?!?!) but I felt the like belt wasn't highlighting that in the best way. I say wear it and feel like a sexy mama, especially with those shoes!
Yeah I'm trying to figure out if I like the belt or not....I mean I like that it breaks up the dress a little but maybe it's too thick of a belt?
And yep, it's called the "Brushstroke" dress on their website actually lol
