Please please, I need an honest opinion on this dress. I bought this second hand designer just after we got engaged with the aim of having some alterations done. I wasn’t happy with the way the skirt falls on me. I took it to a dress maker and she said she could undo the various bunches in the front, pull the skirt backwards, and pinch and secure it behind. She is a well known dressmaker and when I left I was confident it would work. I imagine it would look sort of like theback of this dress (struggling to find a pic to show it).
I’ve never really “super loved” the dress. I know the dress is ‘fine’ but I don’t feel super amazing in it. Everyone who I have shown says it looks really nice and they think it will be beautiful when the alterations are done – but I don’t know if they are just saying these things so not to offend me.
Please can you give your honest opinion – does the dress suit my figure? Is it just ‘blah’? Do you think I would be better going for something more slim line?
Thank you all so much.
PS. The dress is ivory and I will have a long veil. There are little swarovski crystals on the bodice

@seagate: I am going to be honest and say that I don’t like it. It’s very blah, doesn’t do much for your figure and doesn’t seem very current. I think you can definitely find better. Good luck!

To be honest I am not a huge fan and think it shortens you a bit. Most importantly, you should feel beautiful in your dress (!!!) and you obviously don’t. Find something that you love!!

I don’t think this dress looks great on you. For some reason, it makes you look like you have a really long torso and tiny little short legs. If you wanted to stick with this dress I think it would be way more flattering to turn it into a close fitting skirt.

Thank you for your comments so far – honesty is good!!!

I am not a huge fan of the straight line across your hips. But perhaps that could be altered to hit at a more flattering spot. And I think the skirt alterations would be beautiful.
However, this is YOUR wedding dress. If you are not 100% in love, don’t settle. You should get the dress that you are going to want to look back on for years to come.

It’s just ok. I feel like you could do better. Also, if you feel like you need to make that many alterations to a dress, it probably isn’t the one.

Sorry but I also have to agree with PP. it’s just not flattering on you:(
I think you should keep looking!

I’m not in love with it, and I can tell you are not either. I would start looking for something that leaves you with a better impression than “fine”.

No. You need something without the 2-piece look. The horizontal line cuts you off and makes you look short. The sequins on top are prom-dress-ish, and not in a good way.
I do like the look of the fabric on the bottom part of the dress, but that’s it.
You need to start over. Sorry 🙁

@seagate: this dress is badly constructed. it is not something that alterations can fix. it is made badly. can you buy a new dress?

I don’t think the dress is horrible by any means, but as PP I think you could find something that would flatter your figure better than this gown does.

Sorry, but in all honesty you can do a lot better than that dress!

Sorry, but I really don’t like it at all. i agree with the other ladies, it’s not very flattering on you. You have a lovely figure and I just don’t think it does anything for your shape. If you love it, thats all that matters but seeing as you dont, I would definitely get something else.
