It's fixed. Well, to answer your questions, I wouldn't say that the dress fits with "modern, simple elegance" theme, but there's no law that says you can't have a simple, modern style to the wedding and a more ornate dress. If you really like it and don't mind that it's a different style than the rest of the wedding, go ahead. As far as the gold goes, are you talking just about the trim or about the whole dress? I think gold all over the dress might be a little overpowering.
If you mean gold trim, it would look awesome!! But of course my dress has gold trim! The bead work, especially on the bottom, looks a lot like mine. If you decide to go with gold, take a look at these shoes, I LOVE them!!

Just looked at the site again and it says lt. gold/gold. So I guess the dress itself is light gold. I don't think that would be a metallic gold, right? More like a goldish shade of ivory. I think it would look nice. It would be better if there were a picture of that color.
I agree that it's not what you explained as modern, simple elegance. I do like it though...
I chose an ivory gown with silver, white, gold and "rum" (more like copper) beading. Here is a link in white: http://www.bonny.com/index.php?Itemid=999999935&option=com_staticxt&staticfile=gowns.php?id=317&gline=1&start_page=12&featured=N
It looks much better in the ivory, I think...
As for gold, I have a friend who was in a wedding with the bride in gold. The dress was stunning. The bride was very tan and the wedding was in the fall, so the color was amazing for the season.
Good luck!
I LOVE this dress and I think it will look AMAZING with your colors. I would definately go for it!
I'm wearing a light gold gown, but it reads more of a rich ivory color and absolutely love the look of it. However I am going for a "luxurious elegance" for my event tone. Honestly, I think the lace & bead work do shy away from your "simple modern" feel. Unless your completely in love with the dress, perhaps you should look at more gold or ivory dresses without all the beading, etc.
I'm not sure the dress vibes with your theme, but if you love it and you're gonna feel beautiful in it I believe that's way more important.
My dress is a pale antique gold and I love it. Such a unique color and in your case if you found it in gold it sounds like it fits in your color scheme.
Why dont you take your MOH and look around a big wedding dress store like David's or the Bridal Garden...dont take to many ppl so you dont get confused or stressed...maybe you need more time, this is the dress! you have to be 100%, we cant tell what you are about...we can help, that dress isn't my style but its so pretty just ths same...this is a huge chocie, you should leave up to you.
here's the deal: if you want your gown to match your "theme"--then this is not the dress for that. *however*, it doesn't matter if your dress matches what your overall theme is. If you love the dress, can't stop thinking about it, are giddy about the color and the way it looks on you, then that is THE dress! I'm sure you'll look stunning in it--I have yet to attend a wedding that the bride looked out of place at! Best of luck to you--i like your choice!
I love the dress! It is a mix of modern and traditional and I think you can make it work!

Hi, everyone. The gold is the same kind of champagne gold that is shown in the photos. It's not a loud, metallic gold but I was surprised I liked something so much that is not ivory or white. :)
I agree that the dress does not say "modern elegance." To me, the dress is more romance novel, lol!! But it looked really good on. I'm going dress shopping tomorrow to see if there are more modern styles that I like better.
I really appreciate all the input! :)
My totally honest opinion is that yes it looks like something you'd find on the cover of a romance novel and that's not a look I'm overly fond of. I don't think modern at all. But a lot depends on how it looks on...if it fits you well then it may be perfect and it really all depends on what you feel like a bride in.
It's a bit too vintage glam (aren't they all these days) for a modern elegance feel. It's got a bit much going on for my taste, but then again, it's not my taste. A great piece of advice someone gave me was that all the things I love will find a way to work together. At least that makes me feel better about my style of decorating. :)
Since one of your wedding colors is champagne gold, the dress would go perfectly. I can totally imagine the look you're going for and it works....although I'm curious to see how the fuchsia and midnight blue plays into the overall look.
I think if the dress looks good on and you love it - then go for it! I think it is a beautiful dress and honestly - none of your guests are gonna be saying. "OMG her dress does NOT match this wedding's theme!" They will be saying, "Isn't the bride gorgeous and this the most elegant wedding you have ever been to?!" Anyways, I think too matchy matchy is no fun. good luck!
The wedding dress is excellent. The combination in the picture is the best. You can of course go for a light golden lace. Just go for it!
Wish you a very happy wedding.
My honest opinion.... I'm more of an ivory or white but yet modern and couturish. This dress doesn't do anything for me. It has too many unnessary details which doesn't make it look elegant. As long as you feel good in it. Its all up to you since everyone has different taste. My dress is a Monique Lhuiller which has flowers popping out everywhere. Not everyone will like my dress but it totally suits my personality. If you're iffy about your dress and have to ask about it. Its not the right one. You will know which one is YOU.
dang there's a lot going on with that dress. IMHO, it doesn't say simple ... or modern at all. to me it says old-world charm... very renaissance-y. i think its hard to incorporate gold as a "modern element" because typically its used a detail and results in something that looks more ornate. to me, modern means streamlined, minimal, simple.
with that said, i dont think it matters all that much if your dress doesn't jive with the overall motif.
I'm an honest person.......I don't like it....here's why...the top part is too long...and it's too busy....but you have to try it on to know for sure...so as for me I'm not crazy about it, but the color is pretty =)
are you happy with it? thats the biggest thing.
the dress will fit into your color scheme but necessarily a minimalist look. but modern doesnt have to mean miniumalist. I'm going with a modern romance theme. my dress is highly embilished and "fussy".
but it all comes together to work bc i am staying simple and modern with my reception decor. in my ballroom like setting. nice little juxaposition.
also, any dress that fits well is bound to look good on you. what about other dresses that have fit well? have you tried on any others that fit?
I'm with the majority of gals - it looks more glam/romantic/cinderella than 'simple elegance' but honestly, if you love it, who cares? It's your day and you should wear whatever makes you feel like a million bucks - theme, shmeme! And don't forget, even though maybe you think you can see slight differences in colors or themes, no one else will have a clue. Really. They will be too busy having fun and thinking how adorable you and your hubby are.

The overall style of our wedding will be modern, simple elegance. The colors are midnight blue, champagne gold and fuschia. Is this dress a bit out of sync with that, or does that even matter?

http://store.bridalshoppeinc.com/index.php?act=viewProd&productId=332 Does anyone have thoughts on gold instead of white or ivory? I found it in gold in my size for half off (sample)! And it looked very good on; I just did not expect to go for gold.
