For those of you using Honeyfund or another honeymoon registry, when are you writing your thank you notes: before or after your honeymoon? We have been writing thank you notes almost immediately for the physical gifts and cash we have receieved, but I’m not sure what the etiquette is for honeymoon registries.

I would do what you are doing so the guest know immediately that their gifts were received and that the site isn’t a scam, which would be my concern.

I would treat it like a regular registry gift, and send the thank you as soon as you received it. People like to know their gifts have been received. If possible, I’d include what you plan on using the honeyfund gift for in the thank you, like “Thank you so much for your gift; we plan on getting a relaxing couples massage after all the wedding stress!” or something like that.

Thanks for the input. Our honeyfund registry has specific excursions and services on it (although we might not be able to go on every one), so we can say “thank you for the Waterfall Tour…”).

We are using Honeyfund and I wondered the same thing. Our registry included honeymoon excursions as well as regular registry items (blenders …).
We will be sending thank you notes as we recieve gifts, not matter what type of gift they are.
For traditional registry items, we’ll include a note on how we plan to use the item in our home.
For honeymoon excursions, we’re promising to take a picture of us enjoying their gift and send it once we’re back. These photos will be sent by email where appropriate (our friends) or by snail mail where we think a second “official” thank you is required (older guest or for those who pride themselves on being etiquette snobs. lol).

We plan to do both – sending a cheapie thank you card right after we recieve a gift, and then a more formal one after the honeymoon.

I think that I would wait until after the honeymoon. I would sent them a picture of you on your honeymoon and let them know the fun things that you got to do thanks to them.

If I get a Honeyfund gift for my shower, I will send the thank you ASAP. Honefund gifts for the wedding will be sent after the honeymoon along with a picture from the trip specific to their gift.

Send the thank you note now and let them know that you are looking forward to going on XYZ excursion.

If this were me I would write the note right away with a “we can’t wait to go jet skiing” type of sentiment.
Then, when I get back from the honeymoon I would drop people a less formal note via email thanking then and saying what a great time you had, and attach a photo.
