We just booked last week. We didn’t want to go anywhere super adventurous because we have both travelled extensively already and didn’t want anything stressful after the wedding. We just wanted a nice beach vacation. It’s tough in August, as you said, because the Caribbean is in hurricane season and Hawaii is just overrun with families and overpriced. We decided to just drive down to Rancho Sante Fe (in San Diego; we live in LA). By not having a flight to pay for and not having Hawaii peak season rates, we were able to get a suite at a five star resort/spa for five nights in our budget.

We haven’t booked yet and are still looking for ideas. I’m hoping we book by March.

We have not booked our honeymoon yet, but plan on a trip from portland to seattle to vancouver and vancouver island. So excited.

At first we were thinking of Italy but nixed that when we realised that August was the month italians go on vacation.

Dubai sounds great. I to agree it’s to hot most places in june, july and august. We would like to go somewehere in the bahamas but, our wedding is may 28th and thats when the weather starts to warm up in canada (where we are from) so we are thinking of putting it off until fall.

@bellarain: yep! that’s what we’re hoping for – a nice relaxing beachy honeymoon OUT of the hurricane belt! 🙂

@bellarain: Nice! Where in the Maldives were you thinking of staying? We’re planning on going to the Maldives in Feb. 2012 for our “belated honeymoon” because FI’s work schedule is nuts until then, but we will be taking a “mini-moon” right after the wedding also. We’re planning to stay at the Beach House Maldives for 6 nights and I am super excited!

I totally want to go to the Maldives!  We are saving that for a longer vacay time…so we’re doing Maui for our HM since we only have a week. You are going to have so much fun!

Thinking of Puerto Vallarta, Mexico. Originally we thought Carribean (Virgin Islands) but we are in October and its tricky with storms in hurricane season (our friends married the same time and had a week of rain). Mexico looks nice at that time. We are actually doing a split honeymoon, which makes more sense in our eyes. We’ll do 6 nights in Mexico for our real honeymoon after the wedding, then next year go to Greece and Italy for 10 days. We’ll have plenty more time off then.

I wanted to go to the Maldives so bad! Unfortunately the travel time was just unrealistic for us. As well as pretty pricey. Instead we are going to Greece for 10 days. We already have our airfare and hotels booked, but no excursions or anything yet. We don’t plan on having too many, but I definitely want to do a little more than lying on the beach for a week.

we are postponing a real “honeymoon” til likely the following spring.  we are thinking montreal/quebec city, maybe niagara falls mixed in.

we will probably do a 2-night stay the week following the wedding somewhere nice nearby in North Carolina.
