So Fiance and I are a little over 6 months away from the wedding and haven’t thought much about a honeymoon. We would love to stay in an all inclusive resort but our honeymoon budget is getting smaller and smaller. We just moved in together and are trying to figure out bills and we still have to get a cake and flowers and all that jazz.
I have found some cheap all-inclusives with flights for around $1800 with an excursion or two it’s arounf $2000. Problem is that I’m not sure if we will even have that much to spend. I just don’t want to go broke over the honeymoon! I have said we could go somewhere in the states and go to an all-inclusive resort once I finish school, but he thinks if we don’t go now we never will. Not true!
We have also considered staying in the states for a honeymoon, but the wedding is in December and we aren’t sure where good places to honeymoon would be in the states. Anyone have ideas of pretty vacation/honeymoon destinations in the US in December??
Fiance also mentioned that we should just go to the airport the day after the wedding and take the first flight out that we can. Sounds fun and interesting, but without a hotel or anything else planned is it even do-able?? Has anyone on the Bee done this??
We just need help or we won’t get any kind of vacation!

- Wedding: December 2014 - 13th ~ TN
mallorinicole: Hi date twin! Some people say they will go later and they do, some don’t. I guess it depends on how much deisre you have to actually go.
As far as staying in the US, FL (especially the Keys, Miami, Ft Lauderdale) are still pretty warm in Dec. Sometimes you can even test the coasts of SC and GA. SC weather is as a fickle as a 13 year old girl but, for the most part you can still expect nice weather in Dec.
I guess it also depends on where in the US you are. Flying to FL from ND might not be as possible as CA, which (in some parts) would still be wam in Dec as well. So close to Christmas, I would not recommend just winging it with the flight though. One, they will be outrageously priced and two there is a chance that you wont be able to get one anywhere. Good luck!

You should be able to get a reasonably priced one week honeymoon at an all inclusive. Your wedding date is just before prices go up for the Christmas/New Year’s vacations.
We can usually get a week at an all inclusive on the Pacific side of Mexico from Vancouver for approx $1000, while those in Eastern Canada tend to get the better bargains to Cancun.
As the pp said, it depends on where you live.

I would definitely say south florida or the florida keys would be the best for december! Me and my boyfriend fly free so we often go to the airport and go somewhere random without a hotel room, but not right before xmas. That would be a mess lol

If you can make the flight to Fort Lauderdale, there is a fast ferry to the Bahamas for $119ish roundtrip (there’s actually a groupon now for a $59 day trip and $99 multiday roundtrip) and they have lots of resort deals in freeport bahamas (where the ferry docs) if that might be an option. you might want to check out Living Social Escapes and Groupon Getaways for their deals (Stateside and international) or ideas at the very least. You could do a mini-moon and plan a bigger trip a year out too. You’ll make it happen and it will be great, no matter what you choose 🙂 Just showing up at the airport and picking a flight sounds like fun too. Good luck!

Depending on if you want something booked to leave right after the wedding or not you could do what we did. We didn’t book anything or save up anything. We waited to see what we would get for wedding present. We got $3700 cash and are using this For the honeymoon. Prices do tend to jump right around Christmas and stay high until about May so that is a risk if you wait.

mallorinicole: I do love the idea of being spontaneous, but i am not sure if i could do that! Obviously you can hold out for a flight going somewhere you want to go, but the prices might be high – especially in december. Hotels may be tough to get last minute too.
Where do you live now?
Have you considered cruises? They are fairly inclusive (room, food and on board entertainment included – alcohol extra) The food is to die for (buffet, restaurant or room service) the entertainment was amazing (hypnotist, comedians, singers, dancers) You can get cruises rather cheap. East coast to bahamas ot carribean you can get 5 days under $300 sometimes! West Coast has good deals to mexico as well.
My brother did a xmas cruise two years ago in december to western carribean and they loved it. weather was great.

mallorinicole: I might be a little late chiming in but your FH’s idea of a “destination nowhere” honeymoon sounds super awesome! I like the idea of a cruise, especially if you live somewhere where you go thru the extremes of the four seasons. December would be perfect for a cruise.
