I have been to a bunch of islands in the caribbean.  For some reason I can’t articulate, the Virgin Islands are my favorite.  The food is good, the people are nice, there’s awesome jewelry shops and other stores, and the beaches are phenom!  I went to Grand Turk Island through a cruise, so I have no idea what Turks & Caicos is really like.  A friend of mine just came back though and raved about it.  Sorry I don’t know the name of the hotel!  My generaly rule of thumb is to pick an island, and go with at least a 4 star all inclusive resort.  That’s worked out really well for us so far!  We’re going to St. Lucia for our honeymoon, and we’re staying at a Sandals.  They’re everywhere and I’ve only  heard great things about them.  Maybe you should check them out too!

As far as the Carribean goes, I’ve stayed in St. Thomas, and visited St. John, Virgin Gorda, and Tortola.  I loved St. Thomas and I will hopefully get back to stay on St. John & Virgin Gorda someday.  I loved the islands for different reasons so it’s hard to pick a favorite.  Although I can say the Baths at Virgin Gorda were breathtaking.  Infact, that’s the majority of the reason I want to go back is just so I can explore the Baths some more.

I can’t really comment as far as hotels go because I was staying in a private condo in St. Thomas, but it was next door to the Ritz and we used the Ritz’s beach, so I can say how fabulous that was. lol  Before the hubs and I decided on Jamaica, we were considering going to St. John.  I was finding some fantastic deals on vrbo.com.

I’m going to Negril, Jamaica on our honeymoon…staying at Couples Swept Away.  It’s a set up like Sandals, just way more affordable.  Staying at an all-inclusive resort will be new to us…I’ve never stayed at a resort in my life, but I’m so so excited!  Part of me wishes we were going back to St. Thomas or St. John, but I’m one of those creatures of comfort where I have to really force myself to try something new and decided that a honeymoon would be the perfect time to try a new place!

Good luck and let us know where you choose!
