i will be spending 2 weeks on the beach and am dying for some non-wedding reading to occupy my time. any good books that i have missed in the past year of wedding planning haze? i pretty much love everything: from Atlas Shrugged to Eat Pray Love.
I'm an architecture graduate, so it may be more interesting to me, but Devil in the White City was a very good book. It's about a murderer in Chicago during the World's Fair (true story) and has the history of the murderer alongside the preparation for getting the World's Fair designed and underway.
I just read The Painter From Shanghai by Jennifer Cody, the true story of China's greatest female painter who was sold into prostitution as a young girl by her uncle. It's gripping and shows some interesting sides of marriage and womanhood. I really enjoyed it.
OK I'm a light reader. I like anything from John Moore. He writes books that are parodies of classic fairy tales with some modern elements. I loved his last book, "A Fate Worse than Dragons."
The Time Traveler's Wife would be perfect for reading on the beach. I warn you, it's hard to put down! It is one of my top three favorite books ever (and I have read a lot of books).
