What part of Jamaica? If you are near Ocho Rios you have to go to Dunn River Falls. Its amazing!

it totally depends on what part of the island you are on. FI and i went to lucia, just outside of montego bay last april and did the zip line excursion so if you guys are adventurous DO NOT pass this up, it was amazing! we also did the sunset champagne catamaran cruise – so romantic and perfect for a honeymoon πŸ™‚

i just posted about this in this in another board, lots of great excursions!  This was more for the negril area and I think secrets is in montego bay area.   Here is my post copied/pasted:

negril area:

two different waterfalls you can visit

YS falls and mayfield falls (I did YS last time and we are doing mayfield this time)  YS was nice πŸ™‚

if you like rum you could do the appleton rum tour (this is kind of close to ys falls so it can be done together)

I’ve heard black river safari is really good, but never done it

there is horse back riding

royal palm reserve

snorkel trips…

quite a bit furthur day trips:

bob marley tour – if you are into that – never done it myself – I have heard from a friend that the tour is pretty basic/rustic so I think you really would need to love bob marley for this one.  Fiance really wants to do it on our trip this time… (very far from negril)

plantation tours – I really enjoy these types of trips πŸ™‚

shaw park gardens + dunns river falls (in ocho rios) I have done both of these and really enjoyed (but a good 3 hr drive from negril)  Make sure you go on a non-cruise ship day and go the falls early

To add on for montego bay area, check out this things:

martha brae river rafting & luminous lagoon (this is cool)

The Rum Factory tour of course!! Zip lining, cave tubing, Dunn’s River-all good choices.

Have a great trip!

Jamaica is beautiful! My FI and I went on vacation to Jamaica and stayed at the RIU Montego Bay last October. I definitely recommend the Canopy Tour Zipline in Montego Bay. Be prepared for long bumpy roads to get there, but well worth the ride to zipline in the mountains! Based on our experience I would recommend against downtown MB shops b/c they can be slightly sketchy and Margaritaville is getting run down.

I also recommend taking a day trip to Negril Beach. Make sure to take a taxi instead of the offered day tours. The day tours waste your time at two different mall strips before taking you to the actual beach. Negril has absolutely beautiful white sand beaches. Make sure to visit Rick’s Cafe at Sunset while you visit Negril!

Whatever you decide I’m sure you’ll have an awesome time. Jamaica is tons of fun! Enjoy your honeymoon!

horseback riding on the beach and in the water…  I’m a horse person so I might be a little biased, but it was SO much fun.

Iwent on a cruise to Jamaica when I was like 16 and that was the only thing I wanted to do… My 14 year old friend and I went by ourselves and felt completely safe… Horseback riding in St. Lucia by ourselves before that was another story, although really beautiful, but the random guy on the beach telling me I needed a black boyfriend creeped me out.

@andreagrace34: I second Dunn’s River Falls and the Zipline Canopy Tour (done by Chukka, I think the company is called). Horseback riding in the water is fun, BUT you should note that the horses tend to … um… spontaneously eliminate. Personally, I was very freaked out by riding in the water with floating horse dung, but that’s just me, LOL. It WAS fun, but I was very distracted by that whole thing.

I DO NOT recommend the Luminous Lagoon. I didn’t particularly think it was worth it. It sounds very romantic and fascinating when you read the description, but if you re-read the description after you visit then you realize it’s EXACTLY what it says, and it’s not particularly exciting after all.  It would be nice if it was something you did on your own and didn’t pay as much as they charge for. Otherwise, you’re not missing anything.

FI and I stayed at the Iberostar Grand Rose Hotel in Mo Bay last summer and had a fabulous time. I would definitely do Dunns River Falls and Zip Lining. The Blue Lagoon was very different and if you are down to walk in mud I would say go for it. You will have a blast, Mo Bay was so much fun and we can’t wait to go back to Jamaica.
