We just had a dream wedding. Everything was absolutely amazing. We were so looking forward to a dream honeymoon as well. We were supposed to leave tomorrow for our honeymoon in Hawaii, but there are 2 huge hurricanes headed there this week and so in the interest of safely….we canceled. Lost a great deal of $ canceling, but we just didn’t want to risk being in a potentially dangerous situation at worst or spending 2 weeks in rainy windy weather at best. We are using vacation days from work right now though and it would just be too disappointing not to go anywhere. Does anyone have any suggestions for incredibly last minute vacation destinations or deals? We want to leave asap. Thanks bees!

Expedia is my go-to for last minute trips and deals! Also, selloffvacations.com. Sorry you had to cancel your trip, but congrats on becoming a Mrs!

Kbridal: I am so happy you cancelled the trip! I just got off the phone with our Hawaii office and it looks pretty bad. Where are you based and what is your budget? I can try and find you some deals!

Only hurricane I know of in the Atlantic is Bertha and that’s not near any Caribbean islands (its heading where I live lol). I’m not sure where you are located but I’m sure you can get a last minute deal somewhere beautiful. Check expedia or selloffvacations

Pollywog: I’m in Toronto… Our budget is 3500 max incl. food. That would be great! Any suggestions are welcome!
PumpkinMuffin: We saw a travel agent this morning and got all excited that we may be able to salvage things by going to Cancun, but the weather forecast is thunderstorms all week!
At least I’ve learned a valuable lesson… Always but cancelation insurance!
amstudent1: thanks I’ll try that.
Charliejeorge: thanks, I’m thrilled about being a Mrs. 🙂

Cancun/carribbean is also hurricane season right now… so watch out for that too. Another option is travelzoo.com

I went to Cancun last month for eight days — the forecast was thunderstorms every single day and it never rained ONCE. I was totally confused.

Kbridal: First, I realized that came off totally wrong. I am happy you aren’t flying into danger, not that I am happy that it was cancelled!
For easy, could you drive to the Finger Lakes? There are plenty of bed and breakfasts in the area. You could stay on the lake and drink wine, swim, and hike. It looks like Black Sheep Inn has vacancies: http://www.stayblacksheepinn.com/. There are amazing vineyards (Bully Hill is my favorite) and great food.
For flying, it is hard to get international in that time period. But if you drive to Buffalo you can get better deals. I am seeing that you can get a round trip ticket to NYC for $271 and Boston for $276. You could spend $650 on flights, rent a car for $500, and drive to Cape Cod or the Hamptons (hotels at $200 a night for 7 nights). I got all of my prices from Kayak. That would give you $1000 for food. You could save by staying in the city and not renting a car.

Pollywog: haha don’t worry, I knew exactly what you meant. In fact the more I read about what’s happening there, the happier I am that we made the last minute decision to cancel. Hmm OK great thanks!! I’ll look into done of those options!
cmbr: I just googled how accurate forecasts are for Cancun and apparently its pretty common for the forecasts to say storms everyday, but for it not to rain for more than 10mins or so. I’m starting to get hopeful again…..

check this out. you would have to pay for airfare to get to one of the locations they are flying out of but I think this would be perfect 😀 https://www.groupon.com/deals/ga-travel-by-jen-blue-bay-villas-doradas-1
