We’re going to Excellence Playa Mujeres in Riveria Maya! We got a 2-story rooftop pool suite for 6 nights, airfare from midwest, transfers to and from airport, and total trip insurance from almost exactly $4,000. It’s basically in the middle of the jungle (shows jaguars hanging on by the gates!), can always go to the ruins, climb down cenotes, but is also right on the beach, all inclusive, and has a world class spa. I’d definitely check it out! We are going next week so I can give you more info then! We’ve been looking forward to it for over a year!

We spent 4 great nights in Costa Rica for around $3500 including airfare. We booked everything but the flights through Anywherecostarica.com and it was great. Everything was smooth and we had a great time.

mariatcast:  We went to French Polynesia for our honeymoon.  We did 3 nights in Moorea and 4 in Bora Bora…it was beyond amazing. Paradise for sure…buuuuuuuut it was super expensive.   It was about 8k for flights (including interisland flights), hotel (overwater bungalow in Bora Bora, regular hotel in Moorea), and breakfasts. LOL Including all the activies and dinners and stuff we probably spend about 10k….super expensive…but for a once in a lifetime trip? Totally worth it!

We’re going to Hawaii (Maui) because we don’t have enough time to go international, alas (we were originally planning on Europe). It’ll be just under $6k for flights + hotel (breakfast included) + car rental for 7 nights at a 5 star resort in August. (My family is from LA, so the flights are super easy and comparatively close for us)

How long of a honeymoon are you looking to do? Where are you flying from?

I think for $4k-$6k you could do a nice Hawaii trip with possibly multiple islands.

Hawaii has the exotic feel, with mountain hikes and hidden waterfalls in the rainforest – but also with plenty of resorts and spas for relaxation.

Plus, for travel this close in, if you both don’t already have passports that could be a factor as well.

we did playa del carmen (royal hideaway) for our oct wedding… it was abut $1000 each including airfare and 4 days all inclusive. I loved it and it was very relaxing though we could have chosen to do more (like hikes, ruins, snorkeling etc)

Since we went immediately after the wedding (flew out on monday night) we were more into relaxing but on our other honeymoon (we considered mexico more of a mini-moon) we did thailand and got in lots of adventure!

mariatcast:  We just got back from Costa Rica.  We spent about half of our time on the beach and the other half was spent going on excursions to Nicaragua and then also ziplining, water sliding, horseback riding to the bottom of the rain forest and getting into hot springs and saunas that were heated by volcanos.  It was awesome.  We want to go back because there is still so much we want to do.
