@acharlestonbride: I may be biased because this where my family is from but the U.S Virgin Islands are beautiful. My family is from St. Thomas and it’s a great place. There are a ton of high end shopping, good restaurants and you still have the Caribbean feel but it’s not as touristy as some of the other islands in the Caribbean. My co-worker also just got back from Puerto Rico (which is a boat ride from St. Thomas) and she loved it.

I would do Cozumel, Cancun, Puerto Rico, Costa Rica, or Spain!

We are going to St Lucia and staying at Sandals.  There are three Sandals resorts you can go between there and it looks beautiful.  I have heard good reviews and St Lucia is stunning.  However, it all depends on the type of trip you want to take (sight seeing, relaxing, hiking/skiing, etc).

I’m going to agree with Shekema07…St. Thomas is amazing.  I spent 10 days there and absolutely loved it.  The island is gorgeous, you can have peace & quiet or you can go for the nightlife, and I thought the locals were awesome.  I would go back there in a heartbeat!  You can also find some fantastic deals on vrbo.com.  I was amazed at the fantastic prices on beachfront condos.

If honeymoon planning is stressing you out, maybe you should consider a cruise.  My husband and I went on a cruise and I loved not having to worry about researching a bunch of travel info while I was doing wedding planning.  It was so nice to know that our lodging, meals and entertainment were all taken care of.  You mentioned not wanting a long plain ride.  I loved that we took a cruise from a local port and so our only time travelling was spent on the ship having a great time!  If you want low stress, it might be something to consider.

@acharlestonbride: We’re looking for the same thing in our honeymoon, it sounds like. We want fun outdoor activities some place kind of exotic, but nothing too expensive since we’re paying out of pocket, too (this rules out New Zealand!). I keep hearing good things about Costa Rica, as well as Belize. Flights to both are pretty affordable, and it sounds like there’s lots of hiking, diving, etc opportunities in both places.

We also wanted to go to Fiji, but it was wayyyy to expensive! We are now onto Greece and it is much less expensive! Once I get some quotes, I will be glad to share!

It looks like someone else mentioned this, but what about Belize?  From what I’ve researched on Belize, you may be able to get some of that feel you’re looking for as well as be able to participate in the activities you’re interested in. It’s definatlely on my must-see list Smile

@acharlestonbride:

Costa Rica is a good bet for you. Amazing beaches, volcano, mountains, scauba diving, snorkelling, whale watching, zip lining, incredible wild life.

@acharlestonbride: If you want exotic, why not Costa Rica? Or the amazon? 🙂 Check out bookit.com. Or call a travel agent. I checked out every place from SFO lol. Remember there are a lot of interesting places in America: Amazon, pyramids near Cancun, Ecuadorian islands, Brasil, etc. if you really want to go to Fiji, make it work. Cut back on hotels and try hostels or something else. We flew to Cabo because it was the cheapest flight from SF into Mexico. We borrowed a timeshare (have any nice friends? lol). Bora Bora would be awesome, and we almost did Aruba because for some reason it wasn’t too expensive in August. Keep searching!!! 🙂
