I don't know what you budget is for Napa... but there are a ton of nice places. Bed and Breakfasts, hotel chains... Can you get a little bit more specific of the price range you are looking at? I think if you go to Santa Rosa it's cheaper than staying in Napa, but it's like an hour drive south to get to Napa. ~I would recommend going to V. Sattui, And Sterling Vineyards (to go on the airtram to see the views of the valley).
One of the hotels my family likes to stay at in San Fran is the Sheraton at Fishermans Wharf. It's within walking distance of all the 'hot spots'. And you can take/use public transportation to get around.
Thanks Sparkles!
We're budgeting about $100/night for hotels... and will be renting a care for everything excep our couple of days in San Fransisco itself - we'll definitely check out the Sheraton, walking distance to hot spots is what we're looking for there!

Hi hive!
I'm looking for suggestions on {budget-friendly} where to stay and must-sees in San Fransisco, Napa Valley and the Grand Canyon!
FI and I are currently planning out our honeymoon for late October 2009 - flying into San Fran for a few days, then hitting some wineries in Napa. Then we plan to pop over to Arizona, spend some time at the Grand Canyon and head back {to Canada} from Phoenix or Vegas {we're also trying to figure out which part of the Canyon to go to!}.
We love sushi, nature and history and hope not to be shelling out big bucks on hotels most nights.
:)
