Just curious about this. I noticed that a lot of people don’t really have the opportunity to jet off the day after their wedding for their honeymoon (or it just doesn’t work with schedules).
How long after your wedding day are you planning to leave for your honeymoon?
(And if you feel like sharing – where was your honeymoon?)

We’re going a full year after our wedding — we couldn’t decide where we wanted to go last year, and then just decided to wait. We’re going to California.

We are leaving the next day. Fi is saving his vacation time so we can go!

@mscuppycake: We’re getting married on a Saturday and leaving on Monday. This way we have time to deposit any checks we receive at the wedding and have a day to get everything together for our trip!

We are leaving over a month later. I wanted to wait until after my finals were done.

Left on Monday after the wedding on saturday, it was very important to both of us to go right after the wedding, it wouldn’t have felt like a honeymoon to us if we waited months. we went to Mexico for a week, it was a great way to unwind after all the wedding stress and excitement.

At least 4 months later, if we’re getting married in winter : my FI will still have classes starting in January. Hopefully I can take time off work in May or early June (I don’t know where I’ll work yet), but it could also be a longer delay than that. So basically, I’m expecting anywhere from 4 months to a year after the wedding.
But we’re definitely having a ”mini-moon” right after (like 3 days in a spa or inn somewhere) to relax and enjoy time as newlyweds.

We are going on ours next week, which is a little under 3 months after the wedding.

Leaving the next day – cannot fathom having to go back to work after the wedding!

@mscuppycake: We leave on the 2nd day after our wedding.
I disagree, but the FI says it’s “not a honeymoon if you don’t go right away.”

Leaving 2 days after. We wanted a full day after to say good buy to out of towners leaving, and to go home and pack. We didnt want to feel a need to rush out to the airport the next day.

We celebrated our 3 month annniversary on our honeymoon. We got married on Spring break. Im a teacher and we wanted 2 week honeymoon so we waited until I was off for the summer. It worked out perfectly because we were able to fully pay the trip off with the gifts from the wedding and we had a couple months to save up some spending money.

We’re going on a honeymoon for our one year anniversary. We are staying at a nice hotel over our wedding weekend, though.

We’re leaving right after for a mini-moon to get legally married (our state won’t recognize our marriage) and then we’re taking a three-week trip to New Zealand three months after the wedding.

@mscuppycake: we were originally talking about going a few weeks after the wedding But it worked out that since were getting married at the beginning if may we can leave 2 days after the wedding (getting married Friday flight to Tahiti leaves Sunday at midnight) and still get offseason prices. The following week prices start going up since thats when the busy season starts… So it works for us!
