Chicago!  I love my hometown and although DH suggested a staycation which I turned down I find our city beautiful, lots of culture, great food and nightlife.  All you need!

My FI and I are looking to do something similar, and I think we’re going to California. We plan on spending  a few days in San Francisco, and then going out to Yosemite and staying at a nice lodge.  Yosemite is a bit of a car ride, but it’s time together with the one you love.

If not California, I highly suggest Seattle.  My FI and I were there last summer, and it was beautiful!  We visited in Seattle for a few days, and then spent a few days up at Mt. Rainier.

@thatredheadedbride:  Yosemite is amazing and totally worth the car ride. we drove from San Fran to Yosemite and honestly I don’t even remember the car ride (inferring that it wasn’t bad at all).

@mstellah:  Great to know!  I was a bit worried about the car ride, but it sounds like it’s not bad at all.  I’m so excited to go now!

I was going to suggest San Diego because that’s where I live and it’s beautiful in October 🙂

If you’re on a budget, I would suggest going to the zoo over sea world, just my personal opinion ;). Balboa park (where the zoo is) also has a beautiful rose garden and several museums.

I hope you have a great time!

Anywhere in the south! You could visit Victorian B&Bs in South Carolina and Georgia, party in Miami, sight see and museum hop in Austin TX. Or maybe a wine tour in Cali?
